I'm not overly fond of this particular Atlantis game because of all the timed sequences. You have to get through the inn on not just one, but two different occasions. Also there is the boar (bore) sequence where you have to shoot at the %$#@! thing about 600 times befoe you hit it.

I absolutely loved this game. In fact I liked the whole series. Will someone refresh my memory about the tavern. I remember the tavern, but I cant remember details.
Jenny I remember the boar, that was difficult hitting him.

Didn't you need to run up the stairs and swing from the chandelier?

laugh As long as you are on the balcony at the time!

Granny, I just happen to have (or can create) just the right saved game for you. If you want to proceed in the game, let me know. There's LOTS more to do.

I actually liked the timed sequences. It usually took me only 2 or 3 times trying and I got through them. It was somewhat refreshing from the normal point and click games. Added some excitement. But then, I liked Odyssey...

The scenery was beautiful and it had a great story.

Ghostlady,
Are you telling me you got through that inn on only 2 or 3 tries? And what about the pinball-type game with the mouse that you had to play with the weird man with the cat. (I remember the cat's name was Silken, but I can't remember the man's name.)

Considering when the game was first issued, the quality of the graphics is amazing. Not many games that came out in 1997 look that good.

Jenny, it only took me 3 tries as well, and that white boar about 7 tries. I got stuck at the lion puzzle/hidden passage area. I was there for two days replaying the whole thing because I didn't know where to go.

PS-Ghostlady, I liked Odyssey too smile

At the inn, you run up the stairs, cut a rope with a knife and swing on the chandeliar. You just have to do it fast. Yeah, it was about 3 tries. Maybe I just got lucky. Ok, the pinball game, that probably took more than 2 or 3. Maybe six tries. That was probably the hardest puzzle for me.

The boar sequence, there are two spots you can stand to shoot and they are directly across from each other. The first place I stood didn't work quite well. The second place worked very well. I actually had to do it twice because I didn't get the ring out of his nose the first time. duh

Odyessy also has a timed sequence that I was never able to solve. You have to chase a charcter through a maze of buildings in the land of the Lotus Eaters, and try to catch him before the effects of the Lotus drink wear off, and you're back in a different time. Then you have to concoct the drink all over again, and try, try, again.

I was playing this on my old computer with Win 98, then I got my new computer with XP and just haven't gone back to try it again. I don't know if it'll even run on XP.

I did the tavern thing without too much trouble once I got the sequence right, but it took me four years to shoot that *&*& boar! And then I found out I had to shoot that sucker again arrrggghhh

Granny, I had to open my big mouth before I remembered how this game's saved games work - they are automatic. Besides that, I had uninstalled it some time ago.

Anyhow, I re-installed it, and played up through the sequence where you need to swing from the chandelier and knock out Meljenz. Now standing safely outside.

(Sorry folks, now if you drop by the Scarlet Cockerel, you'll get to see me risking it all, not Granny.)

Anyhow, I'm guessing I can get away with sending you two files, one identifying me as the active player, and the other establishing the actual saved position.

Before we do that, you might want to give the action another try. I just played it, and it is very fresh in my mind. Three important things. Be sure you already picked up the knife from the unconscious guard in the alley. You can't survive in the Tavern without the knife.

Then, when Meljenz threatens you, do NOT turn right, he will stab you in the back. Turn LEFT until you see the stairs. Go up, left, up to the top, and left onto the balcony. Look at the rope tied to the balcony and use the knife to sever the rope.

Now, you will be holding the rope, and have a choice of where to jump. Meljenz is the guy to the left. Swing at him, and you'll be done, much to the delight of the small crowd of GameBoomers gathered at the bar. Try it, and I'll bet you can do it. I'll send the save just for luck.

Remember:
1. Have the knife in inventory.
2. Turn left away from Mel.
3. Swing at the leftmost guy.

Let us know! wave

O.K. M'Dear,
Printed your instructions in LARGE print, added them to the dozen others (that didn't help) I found in various places. lol

This definitely is short and simple (sounding, anyway) Will fire up the old Win95 this week if 'Isabel' doesn't get us.

Took me less time on a 200 MHz computer than it did on a 400 MHz computer. You must have gotten better with practice or something, unless your computer was REALLY slow.

Love this thread.

Taking up space on a computer's not-so-big hard drive is Atlantis I - stuck at running through the woods to the cave. I must not be doing something right cause this sequence isn't mentioned in the tales-of-stuck-places. After about a dozen tries I gave up...but not enough to uninstall. However, I KNOW what's up next: the dreaded Boar Hunt.

What to do?
If I never finish, this (hateful but beautiful) game will stay on my backlog list for eternity. <img border="0" alt="cry" title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" />

Tally Ho, I just read more hints on another thread, and one says to do the Tavern "ALL WITH DOUBLE CLICK"!!!! Is that the way you did it?? Don't believe I have seen that particular expression with this puzzle before.
