Yes, we call that first spring ride "spicey!" Learned to lunge a horse after a long winter and riding inside if possible a few times till they worked out the winter kinks. Hope your chiropractor can help. I don't ride any more because of the chance of injuring my back. Too old!

Oh my Ana ...wishing you a speedy recovery for sure as I know your little four legged clients will miss you ... I know nothing of horses but perhaps the next time it would help to walk and lead the horse for some minutes You've got that right Mad OldBroad ... do you have a back porch where you put some bird seed out for the little ones? Good morning Connie ... I'm up for a Danish today ... stay safe whilst you're out and about Howdy Chief and Starcom Have a great day everyone

family, you watch so many court shows, you must have learned a LOT about the law! I don't watch them, but I know I would too.

So today didn't quite go as planned. Hubby woke and gave me a few symptoms he was having and off to the ER we went. He was admitted with what we believe is a bleeding ulcer and can hopefully be stopped with an endoscopy tomorrow. I'll be going for xrays for my back after work. When it rains, it pours!
Hope you all had a great weekend! I'm just getting caught up.

Dang, Ana! I was kind of figuring you were going to need further investigation to make sure you don't have a cracked vertebrae or something. But hubby too? Jeepers, when it rains, it pours. Keep us posted!

Ana so sorry to hear about your back and your hubby. I know I always had to lunge my horse before riding in cold weather to let him get that bent up energy out before I rode. Horses tend to get very frisky when in a stall and the weather is cold and they don't have the opportunity to get out in pasture and run and play.
Ana sending healing prayers your way for you and hubby.
Take care. Gerry

I'm sure he is quite cranky. I wish they could get him in for the endoscopy sooner. This is going to be a long day.
Gerry, you quickly learn to avoid a "spicey" ride in the spring with a lunge line! Someone posting in another forum they had a first spring ride and the horse was perfect! People piled on with their stories! They all seemed to think the big difference was between a stalled horse and a pastured horse.

If I may throw in a little levity... The one and only time I rode a horse was about 40 years ago. It was part of a get together trip with a bunch of friends to one of those stables that offer guided rides to the public. All was fine until we were back at the stables and it was time to dismount. After everyone else got help dismounting, no one came over to me. When I asked what the problem was, I noticed people were giggling, and an older woman turned red and couldn't look at me. One of the guides finally let me know that the horse was peeing, and they had to wait until it stopped before I could get off. Anyway, BET, I hope all is well, or at least calms down very soon.
Life's a puzzle; one piece at a time.
