My husband and I were both born in the U.K. but strangely enough both our Mothers used ground beef (AKA mince) in their Shepard Pies, his in the far north of England and mine down in the southeast, so ground beef it is for us.

Must have been weird looking sheep confused some people!!!!

I don't know anything about Shepard's Pie but what do you mean by beef SAUCE family? Beef stew seasoning mix is a powder. There is already tomato soup in the recipe.

Copper ....
If you Google the UK recipe for shepherd's pie you will find that the meat ingredient is lamb 🙂

What copper said, family. Substitute whatever you want. I've told you before that recipes are just guidelines.

That's good, Mad!

Here is an example of what a beef seasoning mix packet looks like here. At my local stores they are anywhere between a dollar and a dollar fifty apiece.

Thanks Marian. I think you should ask in the store family. Maybe you're looking in the wrong place.

Yes, these seasoning packets are usually found with a bunch of other seasoning packets such as taco seasoning, enchiladas, chili, spaghetti sauce packets, etc.

Any frozen broccoli in the frozen food section of your grocery store. Just be sure you thaw it and then drain all the water off first. That recipe sounds really good!

I looked up substitutions in recipes and many comments say you can substitute crescent rolls for biscuits. Canned veggies have a different consistency than frozen but you can certainly use them well drained.

To be honest, I don't think I've ever cooked anything that was done in the time the recipe states, so my suggestion is look at it and check it and see if might need a little longer.

That recipe sounds really good, family! I think I'm going to make it this weekend. I'm sure refrigerated crescent rolls would work just fine. As far as your baking time, it all kind of depends on your oven. I would just bake it until it is all bubbly and the crescent rolls start to brown on the top. And as Ana said, just drain your canned veggies well. The taste and texture will be different, but will work just fine.

The first recipe uses crescent rolls you purchase at the store. The second one isn't a yeast bread, so it's just mixing some stuff up and baking it. Sounds heavenly.

I make bread often where you mix up the dough and then knead it. It's a long process and takes a lot of work, but it's worth it!

thank you guys very much. https://thecookinchicks.com/king-ranch-chicken-casserole/, this one looks good. https://thecookinchicks.com/ham-cheese-and-broccoli-crustless-quiche/, what crust can i use. never mins i got my answer.I would suggest either a pie crust or using crescent rolls spread onto the bottom of a pie pan! Bake for a few minutes prior to assembling! Either of those are great options!
