It's free to play on Steam ?? Yes, it is. Not sure if it has always been that way or not.

Yes, I do remember the basketball part. It is timed. There are several manual dexterity/timed levels. Not too many, but one is enough to ruin a game. I was able to manage them all (eventually) except the aforementioned one with the lock.
Tally Ho, if you use Steam at all, just get it there. Nothing to lose since it's free. Just remember you need enough points to buy hints and skips though. Use those for the actiony parts and the walkthrough, if required, for the other parts.
One other thing. When you exit the game, it says that your progress has been saved. I never tested that out. There is a limited number of save slots. I'm not sure how many but I'll guess around 15.

I'm glad you mostly enjoyed it Tally Ho. That lock pick puzzle is the one I skipped.
I also had some trouble with that stained glass window but eventually figured it out.
I would never actually "purchase" hints or skips. When I did run out of hints and didn't have enough points is when I searched for a walkthrough. Then I was able to build up more points to use when I needed them for puzzles the walkthrough couldn't get me through.
Oh, regarding the stained glass puzzle, I think I was thinking of a different one. There are 2 and both gave me trouble but that second one I'm pretty sure I looked at the walkthrough to see how it was supposed to look.
