Colorado grandkids are here. I'm sure most of the crew will sleep quite late. My son and the youngest granddaughter are up and she's already outside playing with the Bloodhound. They also brought my granddog, the sweetest little Chihuahua ever. They are usually very unpleasant little dogs, but Sascha is a lovebug. My older son who lives nearby and his family are coming over later today. I'm doing chicken shish kabobs.
Once again, weeds are my life!

Can't believe how tired my body was after getting that boot off. Trying to get other stuff done and frustrated when things become more complicated than they ought to be. Main concern right now is getting my driver's license renewed. Did it online but got letter from USPO questioning my address, which I can only think is because, since the last renewal, I added a PObox, and they won't deliver to a box. The area I live in is a cul-de-sac that has communal mailboxes. Mine is at the end of the block, which is a nuisance in the dead of winter when area leading to and surrounding it is messy with ice and snow. Decided I'd had enough of that, so checked at po and got a box which works well otherwise. Tried several times to get a DMV appt but couldn't do it. Recently learned that, as a senior, I can just go to the front door and ask for help, esp now that I'm back on my walker to help with balance and ease back pain. Guess I had to acknowledge the perks to 'admitting' my age PT for my back and hip starts end of this week. Starting next week, PT 2 days and chiro 2 days. I really, really, really hope that after that I'll start being able to move around easier, so I can enjoy walking again. Now that boot is off my foot, also need to get caught up on other chores and doc appts that I've been putting off. My pooch is doing fine. Much skinnier than he used to be but still full of life and enjoying people.
Life's a puzzle; one piece at a time.

We saw a baby humpback and its mother swim by just now! When they're tiny, they're still the size of a small bus, but compared to the adults they're ever so cute. They have to come up for air more often than the adults because their lungs are that much smaller, so they kind of bob along behind the adults. The vapour puffs when they blow are tiny, too.
We're dying to get out in the boat, but although the weather is perfect, the tides are against us.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning, Danish, Donuts, and Bagels in the Break Room. Had a Wonderful time yesterday at the wild life refuge. You drive thru, as the animals get to roam free. We got to see a baby that was just born that morning. Lunch and Netflix with a friend today.

Connie, what are you netflixing these days? It's gorgeous in AL right now! Humidity is low for June, which is Amazing and Fantastic! I've had a great day getting stuff done, working out, and working on a Deadbolt mystery game. While I had many brilliant ideas, none of them were the ones that occurred to the designers. Brain workout. Son is making an awesome salmon salad for dinner. Hope you all had the most fantastic day!

We had an absolutely gorgeous day here, 76 degrees and sunny, sunny, sunny. We went out around noon and came back in at 8:30 this evening, which was hard on my husband but we had to wait for the tide to come in before we could get up the river.
While were out we saw two massive humpbacks, a pod of Pacific White-sided dolphins, Dahl's porpoises, and of course the usual Stellar sea lions and Harbour seals. The water was so calm we did a long tour north up to the inlets on the Mainland .
Close to shore on the Quadra Island side we saw something neither of us has seen before; the water was literally red with Krill for about a two-mile stretch, and the water was teeming with herring feeding on them. The sound of the herring jumping out of the water was like rain. The two humpbacks we saw were feeding along the edge of it, and there must have been 25 Bald Eagles diving for the herring.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Mad, I'm with you re hot weather. I'm definitely a winter person. It's been sunny and hot here too for the last few days and I can't seem to keep cool despite the fact I have a fan right next to my desk! Night time is brutal! Hagatha, sounds like you had a lovely day. Hope your hubby is doing better. Hugs to you both! Connie, glad you enjoyed the wild life refuge. Sounds wonderful. Draclvr, enjoy your time with your family! Butterflybabe, hope your PT and chiro works well for you. Fingers crossed! soot & L4L, hope you are both well! Hi oldbroad!

Good morning everyone! I feel like I've been gone awhile! Life has been busy to say the least and on top of that I had food poisoning that was the gift that kept on giving. That's what I get for deciding to get a bowl of soup from Panera after being out in the cold and rain last Friday. I won't be eating from there again. I'll make my own. I'm off to work, but I'll try and swing by tonight. Have a happy day all!

NOTHING more miserable than food poisoning! How awful.
Cold and rain and more cold and rain. No pool, Colorado grandkids are getting bored. But we do have a little bit of excitement this morning! We’ve had a hen that went broody setting 15 eggs. This was day 21 and so far she hatched out 12 chicks. 1 egg wasn’t viable and the other two may or may not hatch over the next couple of days. Hubby had left her in this tiny little nest hardly big enough for her even after I suggested he put here in this large dog carrier. So one was pushed out of the nest and fell to the floor about 3 feet down. It was very cold, so after we moved her to the dog carrier – NOW he does what I suggested! – I put it under her, but it may have been out too long or even injured.
The kids are all quite excited. We’re going to just leave her alone until this afternoon and then let them go out and check them out. For the next few days, they’ll pretty much stay under the hen.
Once again, weeds are my life!
