A chance to relax before another week begins... -1. What is the maximum number of clubs a professional golfer is allowed to carry in his bag? -2. The highest possible score for a cribbage hand is 29. How do you get it? -3. Who was the US senator who, in 1976, became Elizabeth Taylor's seventh husband? -4. What is the name of the ship in Treasure Island? -5. What is the shortest modern European alphabet with only 21 letters? 6. What was the Tin Donkey, which in 1915 was the first of its kind? -7. What is the motto of the British S.A.S? -8. Whose painting of Bowl of Fruit, Bottle and Violin was done in 1914 during the artist's Synthetic Cubist period? -9. Send in the Clowns comes from which musical? -10. What word is a species of sandpiper and also an allocated or fixed period of work? -11. How long did the Hundred Years War last? -12. Who is this?

1. 14 clubs. I had to learn these trivial facts since I moved to a golf course community last year. That's all they talk about.

2. My Mum loved crib (rest her soul) and we played it endlessly. Never got close to 29 though!
You need a Jack and three fives, then cut the fourth five in the same suit as the Jack. That gives you 8 ways to make 15 (16 points) four of a kind (12 points) and the Jack "nob" (1 point)
Quantity has a quality all of its own

I knew the cribbage answer also. I used to play cribbage with my husband and he always seemed to make the 28 point hands but never managed to get his Nobs for the 29. I on the other hand struggled to make more than one 15-2 with an occasional run of 3. Cribbage definitely was not my game.

Good call, manxman! Similar memories, SD - being taught by my father, chanting out "15-2, 15-4, pair 6" (that was a typical score for me!) Seems like the game has died the death? Don't actually know anyone of my friends playing it nowadays...

My family plays cribbage every year at our reunion. Several have custom boards. It's very competitive and lots of fun. I can't help but wonder who made up the wacky game in the first place.
The moon is actually more useful than the sun since the moon gives us light at night when it's dark. The sun only gives us light during the day when it's already bright out.

My husband played it when he was in college, and I still have his board and pegs. I never learned how to play.

The same guy who made up the rules to pinochle (including spelling it that way instead of pea knuckle.)
