Butterflybabe, that sounds like a win, win, win (and again) result, especially as it sounds as if you may be able to visit Huey daily if you want! In any event hug catrub

And I hope everyone else has at least some positives in their day: remember that half empty is also half full (substitute your own cliche as appropriate...) woozy

thanks so much Mad, Drac, soot, connie.
Hardest part was accepting my own limitations. Huey's new home is pretty much one of a kind out here. There are other dog play centers around here, but none of them offer the doggie 'taxi' transportation services. A few times there were management issues going on that caused a high staff turnover. After talking with the owner, and looking around at options, I stayed with them because of the taxi service. They offer full grooming, as well as at least one treat a day. Holidays, owners pay a little extra for pictures which they set up cute backdrops, and special eatable goodies for the dogs; and owners receive their own goodie bag with helpful products, incliuding a coupon for freebees. All the food they serve is natural. On any given day, there are anywhere from 10 to 30 dogs. They have caged areas to separate the dogs by size; tiny to medium, and large to huge. Depending on space, some mediums will be put in with the large ones. I've seen little all kinds of dogs from 20 to 100 lbs go in there.

The owner established the business in honor of his daughter who loves dogs. That was may years ago. She's older now and no longer interested in the business, yet daddy won't sell it. I think a lot more could be done with it but he won't spend the money. The most recent manager took over a few years ago and things have been better managed, and I've learned at lot from him as to how things run over there. Some employees were let go because they turned out to not be part of the team when it came to doing chores like cleaning. Working there is more than just a matter of playing with the dogs all day.

In my mind, I've decided items to be packed up and given to them, but not ready to do that yet. The manager assured me there was plenty of time, and some of the daily 'have to' items he either has in stock or, at this point in Huey's life, doesn't really matter too much. Only 'have to' now is his heartworm meds.

I was thinking this morning that with all the crazy, upside down things happening these days, something like this reminds me that there are really good, caring people in this world. Helps me feel God saying, 'Don't worry, I got this! You did your work. He'll be fine until it's time to call him home.'

Woke up at 4:15 this morning and went to fetch the horses from the pasture and of course they were at the bottom. We brought them into the barn, picked their hoofs and filled their hay bags and put them in their stalls where they will stay until we can figure out this awful weather. Glad we don't have to go anywhere.

We woke up this morning to over a foot of snow. Nedless to say, this is highly unusual for us here! I think we've only got one snow plow here in town, so it could be a while before we're able to get out. lol

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Yes, he does. We've noticed that he follows Willow's lead when it comes to navigating life around here, and Willow LOVES the snow. She pounces in it and snowplows through it and generally has a great time out there. Dude was a lot more cautious, but he's been outside several times, mostly following Willow's little paths through the snow. I don't think he's ever been in it before so it's a new experience for him. He's been very talkative all day.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

More snow today. Driving is insane out there. We were out of cat food, so we braved the crazy. Fortunately most people here have 4-wheel drive or at least front-wheel drive, so there weren't any accidents.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Cat food, medicine and coffee are the ones that will drive me out the door. I'm even considering ordering my coffee from my favourite roastery in Vancouver and setting it up as a monthly delivery. I'm also consdering on-line purchasing for the cat food, since Pet Smart delivers. John's various medications, unfortunately, I have to pick up in person because we have to sign for it, or at least the pain meds.

It warmed up about two hours ago and now it's all melting. It's supposed to freeze again tomorrow, so the roads will be ice rinks. Literally nothing would put me in a car under those conditions.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Yes, I use Chewy.com for most of my cat food. The barn cat's dry food we still purchase in big 20 pound bags and keep in a metal trash can in the barn. But the other cats all have medical needs cat food which I pay a small fortune for! But Chewy delivers it to my door. Also have them deliver my kitty litter too. No more lugging those heavy boxes around!

Now with the two cats the bills are pretty large and I make multiple trips to Comox every month to shop for them. It would be a lot easier having everything delivered here. Willow is overweight and I've weaned her from dry food, but she's the clsssic fussy eater and there are a lot of heated discussions at feeding time because she hates the high-protein canned foods. Fortunately Dude is fairly easy-going about what he eats so I've already got him on a high-protein diet, but Willow is a carbohydrate addict and also the most willful cat I've ever had. I've moved her over to pouch food, but it's also pretty carby. She needs to be on the Catkins diet.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
