Hi, Marian!

I really wanted to buy "Book Travelers: A Victorian Story" CE, but was lukewarm on the other 2 games I demoed. Before the platform change, I would have picked one to take advantage of the BOGO sale but, when I discovered that the regular price of a CE is now $27.07 Cdn., (which would cost me about $19.29 if I run out of points and have to use my credit card) I'm going to hang onto the points I have and wait for a 65% off sale to buy the one I really want . As you can probably tell, the Canadian dollar against the U.S. dollar is in the toilet lol ! In the meantime, I'm still playing the bonus game in "Connected Hearts: Fortune Play" and have "Gloomy Tales" Horrific Show" CE waiting in the wings, so I'm good to go for a while.

I hope you were able to take advantage of the sale.

Susan

Susan, much to my surprise, Big Fish just put up another Collector's Edition sale at 55% off for Club members. I sure wasn't expecting that.

I actually held off on buying anything during the BOGO.

And I understand why you decided to wait. It is horrendous how much prices have changed for overseas customers.

I bought Book Travelers and Crossroads: Escaping the Dark as well as 4 old SE games even though I am trying to not buy old games anymore in case they don't work. One is 7 Roses: A Darkness Rises which I believe shows Windows 10 but the other 3 do not. They are The Fall Trilogy, and I mostly only bought them because they are some type of Kheops games. I now have a whopping .80 cent in points laugh.

Hi, Marian!

Before the platform change, Big Fish charged Canadians 2% extra, so our membership fee was $7.14 and that's what we paid for CEs during 65% off sales, and 60% off sales were $8.16. Either that's what the exchange rate was when they originally launched and they never bothered to change it, or they somehow arrived at that figure randomly. I guess the decision was made during the platform change to charge the ongoing exchange rate which, at the moment, is almost 38% and it varies from month to month. I can definitely afford the price increase for the membership fee (and I do get 699 points back), but now I'm being much more selective with the games I buy whereas before I would buy games that were just okay during BOGO sales. I'm still paying for games with the points that were converted from my Game Club credits and Punch Card credits in August so they haven't cost me any more than before, but I don't want to waste them in case a game comes along that I must have, like the new "Mystery Case Files" later this month and I have to pay for it with my credit card lol .

I've still got 3354 points, and I'm using them wisely wave !

Susan

I have to admit that the cost to me now (as a non-club member in the U.K.) for a BF game, even during a sale, is so scarily high that my purchases have drastically reduced.
I am now re-playing a lot more stuff and only occasionally shelling out for new ones 🙁

I do agree that club members should get a preferential deal but as it stands at the moment the difference is really significant 😯

Oh that is good to know Ana! Thank you!

I do not think much of the Big Fish restructuring and it seems like it might be back firing on them with loss of sales and customers.

Hi, Mad!

I can certainly commiserate. As a Club member, it used to cost me $14.28 for BOGO sales and $7.14 for 65% off sales. The U.S. exchange rate today is 36%, so it would cost me $19.02 and $9.51 respectively if I ran out of points and had to use my credit card. I've only purchased 6 games since the platform change in August, so I'm using my points wisely lol !

Visited the "Mystery Case Files" sale at BF earlier and bagged "Incident at Pendle Tower" because it looked like an interesting storyline smile

[Just gone back to playing Camelot The Holy Grail for now though - after a gap used to get myself well started with the RPG game Skyrim - so lots goin' on right now grin]

Susan - if you're still waiting for the 65% off sale, it's on now. Doesn't say when it ends! Members only.

Hi, oldbroad!

Thank you SO much! I was on Big Fish's website earlier this afternoon and there was nothing about a 65% off sale. I'm off right now to do some damage to my points happydance !

Hi, Mad!

I'm off to take advantage of Big Fish's 65% off sale, but I'm still paying with points. Even though my membership fee has gone up from $7.14 a month to $9.68 this month, I earned 699 points so my membership cost me $2.54. The Canadian dollar is strengthening so, with any luck, my membership fee will be a little less next month.

Hi, everyone!

Big Fish is having a Black Friday BOGO sale, so now would be a good time to pick up the newly released "Mystery Case Files: The Last Resort" CE along with any other games you've been waiting for a good sale to buy. It says "Sale ends soon", so that probably means tomorrow at 12:00 noon ET.

Thanks for posting about this, Susan. I will be getting my monthly game credit tomorrow so won't be picking up MCF until there is a good sale from tomorrow on. Maybe I will be able to use this sale, maybe not. But I can be patient. smile

Hi, Marian and Mad!

You are both very welcome wave! It pays to be picky because I'm still working with points and haven't had to use my credit card yet except to pay my membership fee ... and I get 699 points back each month which helps to ease the pain grin. I'm going to play the demo of "Reflections of Life: Spindle of Fate" CE and, if I enjoy it (which I probably will because I think I have all of the others in that series), that will be my second game happydance .

Marian, hopefully your membership renewal will go through before the BOGO sale ends lol and, Mad, enjoy the Mystery Case Files games that you picked up! I have all of the others so I'm buying the new one. I didn't expect a sale so soon after it was released, so this was a nice surprise.
