Hi Marian. thanks for your reply. this is the sequence

Top of Gog home page it has a mauve button that says Sign In
When I click on that it gives 2 options Sign In or Create Account
When I click on Create Account it brings up a box with 3 things to fill in with a button to press at the bottom which says Sign Up Now

The 3 boxes to Fill in are
Username

email

Password

I assumed from that it was an invite for me to choose a user name, state my email and choose a password. But it doesn't like any user name I choose.

I've sometimes had difficulty with online form filling using Edge which I normally use and have had to go back to Chrome so I'll try this later on if no-one can spot anything stupid I'm doing or not doing.

Hi meryl, I cannot see that you are doing anything wrong at all. There is a video here that shows the sign-on process (completely ignore the Facebook option in the sign-in).

I would agree that trying another web browser is a good idea. I have a GOG account and have never had any problems using Firefox.

I only use Edge and have no issues with filling forms. But I agree that you should definitely try another browser. I also see no problems with what you are trying to do. You had confused me earlier - not a long trip for me! - when you said you were trying to sign in. What you are trying to do is create an account and GOG - or perhaps your browser - is not cooperating. Let us know what happens in Chrome. Although Edge is actually now based on Chrome, so not sure it will help. You might have to try Firefox.

Thanks for trying to help. I have now attempted this in Edge, Chrome and firefox. Now in touch with Gog support and will let you know how I get on.

I'm going to be very interested to hear how they help you figure this out.

Hello Draclvr and Marian. Just to let you know I have had no answer from Gog as yet apart from the acknowledgement.

I'm wondering if clearing my browsers would help. I've noticed a few posts here on Gameboomers from people who regularly clear things on their computer. I'm always afraid to do this in case I lose important information. Could you give me some advice please on what it is safe to clear.

Clearing your Browser cache is a good idea every now and then. It can get so bogged down it causes issues, although I doubt this is your issue at GOG. But it still doesn't hurt. It is a similar procedure in Firefox. It's also not out of the realm of possibility that the usernames you are trying to use really ARE already in use! I've had that happen quite often.

In Edge, Open Microsoft Edge, select Menu (3 dots icon on top right corner of the browser) > Settings > Privacy & services.

Under Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear.

Select the Cached images and files check box and then select Clear.

I don't understand why you haven't heard back from GOG again. It has never taken me more than 24-48 hours to get a message from them.

Same here, Marian. meryl, maybe it would be worth it to shake them up again?

Have you checked your "Junk" or "Spam" mail, it happens often enough than legit mail will be received normally in your Inbox, but that same mail will sometimes get tagged as junk mail. This has happened to me on several occasions in the past.

When you say it does not accept your User Name, do they give an explanation as why it does not accept it? I know when I create an account somewhere and put in a User Name it will tell me that the User Name is already taken, so you either have to choose another UN or add a Number to it.

Just curious, what kind or type of "User Name" are you trying to use? Some companies or sites have trouble accepting Off the Wall User names like "Pooky!"/$Bear23", they often just go with simple User Names.

And I agree Marian and Draclvr, GOG is usually quick to answer and I never any problems with them.

Good luck.

Good point about checking the spam email, Starcom. Yes, I know some places won't accept characters or other odd user names. What she is getting that her user name choices are already in use. Which could actually be the case!

I cleared cache in all 3 browsers (though not cookies or browsing history) and tried in Chrome this morning to open a Gog account. Same result. Would clearing cookies help do you think? I'll chase up Gog anyway.

Nothing in Spam or other folders. I do check these fairly regularly.

Meryl, I think I might have figured out what is wrong.

When you click on sign in, it shows you the user name and password. On the bottom right, below where it says continue with Facebook, click on sign up now and then put in a user name, password, email, etc. - and then you can click the green sign up now button.

I would tread VERY carefully using the sign in with Facebook method. I was able to create my account a long time ago without using that method. Follow up with GOG and hopefully they will help you out.

I've just tried your suggestion Marian. It seemed to accept username, email and password. I then have to tick I'm not a Robot which I do then I press the green sign up button. It either says "invalid captcha" or "CSRF token is invalid. Please try to resubmit the form"

then when I redo I get taken to a screen which has a globe on it showing United Kingdom and the bottom toolbar say British Pounds. But the screen is static, there's nothing else on it and it can't be moved. When I go back one screen the username and email are still there but the password isn't.

I think I'm going to have to wait for GOG. Maybe the password I'm using doesn't fit. It has upper and lower case a number and a symbol. Do you happen to know Gog's password requirements?

Thanks for trying . Won't be trying to sign in with Facebook. My screen shows "not available at this time" anyway.

These things are sent to try us!

Password conforms to requirements. What an interesting list. New username accepted. Must be something else. Thanks Draclvr. Is it worth trying clearing cookies ?

I did. I also name dropped. And said Gameboomers were always so complimentary about the swiftness of Gog's response to queries so I was hopeful that Gog would be able to help me on this one despite being busy.

No worries, Drac. The sign-in I was pointing meryl to has nothing to do with Facebook - the sign-in is under that option, towards the bottom of the page. I would never suggest anyone sign in with Facebook either.

I am really sorry that did not work for you, meryl. If I can think of anything else to try, I will let you know.

No worries. I was in a hurry when I typed that and most likely could have explained it more carefully. It's good to warn people about it. smile

As I still haven't heard from GOG about my query despite a reminder do you know of any other game company that has shivers 1 and 2. Tjey don't appear to be on Steam.

What a disappointment! I am so surprised they didn't respond to you. I am not aware of any place else that has them.
