Independence Day! Joining the celebrations from afar with a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. It was that or Bud Light. But Bud light is too light for European buds so Sierra Nevada it is. Glad to hear the weather was successfully delivered. The witch express is mostly, but not always reliable. Happy Independece Day, to those who celebrate

Good Friday morning! And a happy Independence Day to all in the US. Gerry, hubby has had every scan, scope and blood test out there... The colonoscopy Wednesday was clear of anything including parasites. Some friends have a big 4th of July celebration at their place out in the country even further than us. We usually go, but there is a lot of uneven ground and walking down to their lake and his bad knee just isn't up to it. There is a lot of sitting around in the heat drinking beer involved while watching all the kids have fun playing in the lake! And of course tons of food. They always put on a huge fireworks show at dark too. But we're skipping it this year and leaving it to the younger crowd. Spent some time in town with stepson's family yesterday. It was so good to see our granddaughter and her husband who are on leave from the Army. Finally got to meet his two littles who are with them for a couple of months from Puerto Rico. Also got to meet his mom and stepdad who are also here. They live in Connecticut, but are from Puerto Rico. His mom promised to made us Puerto Rican food tomorrow! That is when we'll be celebrating granddaughter's marriage... they got married by proxy while deployed in Poland!
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Happy Independence Day to all US pals and belated 1st July wishes to the Canucks (taking a leaf out of Mad's book)! Drac, sorry to hear that Bella's race is run. And, as is my wont, here is some humour to help the day along: A man’s home is his castle, in a manor of speaking. Dijon vu - the same mustard as before. Practice safe eating – always use condiments. Shotgun wedding – A case of wife or death. A man needs a mistress just to break the monogamy. A hangover is the wrath of grapes. Does the name Pavlov ring a bell? Reading while sunbathing makes you well red. When two egotists meet, it’s an I for an I. A bicycle can’t stand on its own because it is two tired. What’s the definition of a will? (It’s a dead give-away.) * Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana. * In democracy your vote counts. In feudalism your count votes. She was engaged to a boyfriend with a wooden leg but broke it off. A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion. If you don’t pay your exorcist, you get repossessed With her marriage, she got a new name and a dress. The man who fell into an upholstery machine is fully recovered. You feel stuck with your debt if you can’t budge it. Local Area Network in Australia – the LAN down under. Every calendar’s days are numbered. A lot of money is tainted – ‘Taint yours and ‘taint mine. A boiled egg in the morning is hard to beat. He had a photographic memory that was never developed. Happy Friday the 4th everyone. Enjoy those BBQ's if that's what you're doing! Drac, did you arrange to do it at home or at the vet's office? I hope you all enjoy the day!

Oldbroad, our vet doesn't do home euthanasia - I asked. Since he is a friend, I have a feeling he would, but he is out of town for the holiday weekend. Our problem is getting her there because she is such a huge dog. Luckily our grandson is off work Monday and can help us get her into the truck. She only eats what we eat, so she ate a bratwurst last night! I partially fried up some burger and added a little rice and carrots and she ate a small amount this morning. But her condition is deteriorating very quickly and I have to assume she's in pain. We just can't let her suffer.
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Draclvr, I'm so sorry about Bella. It's so hard to let them go, but when their lives aren't good any more it's the right thing to do.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Saturday morning! A toasty one is ahead for the marriage celebration for our granddaughter and her husband. I made a huge cole slaw last night to bring.
We stayed home yesterday because hubby's knee was killing him, but the neighbors put on a HUGE fireworks show next door. They had a big party out by their pool with the music up LOUD all day! They asked us once if it bothered us and we said, heck no. It makes us happy to see you enjoying your home out in the country! Back in the day, we had a few loud parties out here too.
Oldbroad, I was hoping to be able to set up home euthanasia, but he has stopped doing it.
It's spring. My life is weeds.

It's going to be another hot day today.
My friend and I went to Art in the Garden yesterday. It's an annual fair held on a beautiful private property that has a large pond and huge grounds. At least a hundred local artisans put up booths. There was pottery, carvings, paintings, fabrics and a lot of jewellery. Much of it is awful and amateurish, but some is truly wonderful. I hadn't intended to buy anything but somehow came home with an absolutely lovely, heavy woven silver necklace from an artisan who makes the most gorgeous, simple, elegant pieces. Something to wear at my nephew's wedding, I suppose.
Today I'm off for a good walk to burn off some of the ice cream I had yesterday (yes from another local artisan at the fair).
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning all. Gray skies here and they fit right in with the funk I've been feeling lately, which I think might be starting to lift. I did manage to cook something last night but (as usual) it didn't seem to have much flavor.
I was quite surprised (and happy) by the fireworks not being so bad this year. The neighborhood has started to quiet down.
I hope you each enjoy your day!
And, oh yeah. Did I mention that I'm being invaded by red ants in my washroom and teeny spiders hanging down from my washroom and kitchen ceilings?
