Good Saturday morning. Mad, I hope you battened down the hatches and survived Dave!
Soot, have you seen any hummingbirds yet? I have a feed up, but we usually don't see them until about April 15. The map says they are starting to arrive close to me.

Good morning everyone.
And it is a good one, sunny and warmish.
I slept in, so it's a late start, but today I have to get out and buy some cat food, and if I can find the energy I might drive up to Comox and go to the store there as they're more likely to have what I need.
My legs are still stiff from the dancing on Thursday. It's good exercise, obviously.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I so wish I could have feeders, but Dude is just too good a hunter. They do come down to drink from my stream occasionally.
Last night the evening bird song was absolutely lovely, a chorus of many different sounds. I sat outside for a few minutes just listening.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Maybe you could get a small pulley fitted, hagatha, to take any feeder out of the reach of cats ??

hagatha, get the Merlin app from Cornell University on your phone! Let it run while you're out there and it will identify all the birds for you!

You know, I have that app and I keep forgetting about it. I'll try that this evening. I have a small covered patio outside the front door with a couple of chairs and it's the perfect spot for listening to birds and the seas lions and whatever else is out there at dusk. The back patio is too loud with the stream and waterfalls.
Mad, the problem is that hummingbirds are curious and fearless and will come down to look at a cat. Willow just looks at them, but Dude is a very good jumper and can catch them in mid-air. He left me two of them on the back steps in an hour last year.
EDIT: Argh. The water feature is still leaking. Had to turn it off again.

Sorry about the water feature woes, hagatha 🥺 I have to say that none of my many bird visitors would venture anywhere near a cat But then none of them are hummingbirds ….

Yes, between the laptop and the leak in my water feature, I'm not too happy. At least the office renovation went without a hitch. The laptop works for about ten minutes a day. Just being on for a while causes a crash and the endless restart/error loops. I managed to keep it working long enough to print my tax documents, fortunately.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
