My weather is finally cooling off...it will be in the 60s today and 50s on Sunday...by Monday it will be in the 40s! A huge drop in temps in less than a week...over 40 degree change!

Good Saturday morning. Lots of severe storms last night with at least one tornado on the ground in my county about 30 miles away. No injuries reported. We had more rain too, just guessing about an inch here.

Which will make it a muddy mess down at the Ranch for the big Spring Fling. It also went from 85 degrees to 45 degrees, so I'm back in a sweatshirt. All the volunteer and employees have to park up at the country church at the top of the road. There are usually at least 100 cars and trucks there. They run shuttles back and forth for us. Then the visitors have all the parking down at the Ranch. They always use a couple of the 2 acre turnout corrals for parking in addition to anywhere they can stuff them. We have an entire parking crew! Wonder what kind of a crowd we'll have after all the storms. I'll be heading down about 9:45. Most people drive close to an hour to get out here - I drive 30 seconds!

Hope your hubby does well on the Watchman. My hubby also has A-Fib caused by his sleep apnea - which is why he got the implant. But he's been on a blood thinned for years - he's had a couple of blood clots and a PE, so he'll be on them for the rest of his life. I am too because I've had two PEs - and I'm still alive! We say it's something in the water.

It's another sunny, cold day. I'm thinking about heading out for a walk on the beach, but first I have to wrestle with my computer and printer to see if I can print some return labels.

Good day everyone; it's 54F here today which is a really nice change, I'd love to open my windows to air out the house but there is way too much dust out there, what we need is two nights of a steady rain to get rid of all the sand & dust. Have a great weekend everyone.

Woot, woot! Some good news from me for a change! Some while back I tried to apply online for a senior discount on my property taxes but was unable (and also would have been unwilling) to provide the information required online. I eventually found a contact information and requested an application by mail which I sent in at the beginning of December. At some point I saw that there were some changes made when I looked online (like they showed a bill reduction but also showed only that amount as paid). There wasn't a refund amount showing due to me. I recently contacted them again and so far only received an automated response BUT today (crossed in the mails), I received the refund in the mail. I originally didn't care about getting the refund so much as not having huge increases going forward but I really did get concerned when I saw the amount and nothing showing online. It is quite a sizable amount!

I remember your not wanting to submit that information online, ob. Glad you found another avenue to go about it. Wonderful news about the refund!

Unfortunately our provincial government has decided to mess up our Senior's Property Tax Deferral plan. Until now seniors could defer paying Property Taxes until they sold the property, at which time you would pay the taxes owed plus I think 2% interest. The idea was that it would help seniors be able to afford staying in their homes as taxes went up every year.

They've increased it to 6% interest, which is more than a mortgage! For a lot of older people, this will mean they have to sell their homes, as taxes here are very, very high.

Now I have to spend hours trying to get someone on the phone because their online system is so wonky and hard to understand I can't find the page where I can cancel my deferrment. Their website looks like an amateur designed it.

I saw something about a Deferral but I would not do that. These are just a Senior Exemption and a Senior Freeze. I already had a Homeowner's Exemption for living here a long time. I always find it hard to find the "Contact Us" section on sites like that. I hope you are able to get it straightened out, hagatha!

I woke up this morning and had to switch from AC to heat.

Good morning, Danish, Donuts, and Bagels in the Break Room.The lower temps won't get into Fl. until tonight. It will be a welcome break from the heat. We've had some record high temps. We went to the garden nursery yesterday and bought some more plants to replace frozen ones. It was fun, but costly. We will need to do it in stages. We also went to an Orchid and plant sale. Enjoy the day and hug someone.

Good morning everyone. Great news on the refund OldBroad. Keeping your hubby in our thoughts too Ana. Totally understand your frustration Hagatha...I can still remember the promise of technology making life so much easier...but that assumes technology works and is easy to use/understand. The cold snap hit here this morning and it was refreshing. Think we'll be heading to a nursery to spruce up our garden too.

It's another sunny, cold day. My ambition for the day is to get the lawn mowed, if it ever dries out.

We are having unseasonably cold weather here. Normally by now the heat is turned off for the summer, but I'm still using it, or sitting in front of the fire, and I'm still wearing a coat most days.

Good Saturday afternoon. We had 37 degrees here last night. But it is warming up nicely today. I just wish the wind would stop blowing!

It turned out to be a decent day at the Ranch yesterday. In the 50's and windy, but at least the sun was out. I was so muddy down there and they were parking cars everywhere they could stash them. There will be so many ruts where cars and trucks were trying to pull into a place and were spinning out. We usually have at least 700 people and I think it was down a little - but I'll still bet there were 600 people. I was doing wagon ride tours all day and my voice was kinda gone. I also don't think I warmed up until at least 10:00 last night! Too tired to cook, so ordered pizza and hubby ran in town to pick them up.

I'm making some Baked Tuna Steak with an Asparagus Radish salad for later on this evening. I've got a good start on it.
