I use an external CD Drive to play some disc games on my Win 10 computer - as it didn’t come with a “built in” one.

But I can play some really old disc games that way as I get an on-screen message telling me that some necessary files - to enable installation - can be garnered from past Windows Updates during the process.

At this time, many years later, I'm not even sure what I meant by that. lol

Example: Death on the Nile downloaded perfectly, and played well on my Windows 11 machine. Peril at End House, from the same series, wouldn't downlad at all. Conclusion: If you can download it, it will likely play on a modern machine.

Ah, okay. Thank you. Peril at End House is the other one I have only on disc. If I want to replay it, I guess I'll just try the disc. I actually still use my Windows 7 computer for some of the older games (but don't download to it anymore). Fingers crossed it keeps working for another 10 years.

I've just started (re)playing Key to Ravenhearst. Played it YEARS ago, so I remember some of it kinda sort of. Anything resembling a puzzle might as well be fresh. I'll let you know if I stick through it or not. Probably will.

@OB - A minor note ... just because a game won't download on day 1, apparently doesn't mean that it won't download on day 5. Just out of curiosity I attempted to dwnload Peril at End House today, and it worked. I'm still useing the older version of GM, so that can't be the reason for the glitch.

Thanks rtrooney! I know that situations differ from day to day and computer to computer wink

As I said in a previous post a while back, Big Fish has been working on fixing some broken links where some games would not download from Purchase Histories. I spent a good deal of time with Customer Support regarding this issue and alerting them to the fact that this needed fixing. Good to hear it's getting done. Most if not all of the trouble involved older games that had been removed from their website.
