I stay signed in and haven't been involuntarily signed out even once since I installed the last version of the GM, so not sure what's going on there.

Maybe that version information is only showing up in the GM for Club members.

Well, I stand corrected. When I go through one link it is still messed up, but when I go through a different link, it seems to be okay. I understand that people can't get experience without first being new at something, but whoever they have doing this stuff needs to figure it out soon! I have lost confidence in the site.

I saw parts of the conversation on FB. I think BF has it wrong. It isn't a problem that the latest GM won't work on Windows 7 machines. It's that Windows 7 games, e.g. Dire Grove, haven't been updated t o work on Windows 10&11 machines.

Actually, I have tried to use the new 5.0 Game Manager on an old Windows 7 computer as well as on our Windows 11 computer, and it would not run on Windows 7 but instead gave me an error message.

If you are referring to Lucas Fish's posts, he is well aware that Dire Grove and some other titles do not run on Windows 7.

So, how is the new Game Manager 5.0 doing? I see it is open beta for all now.

I had to sign in again last night (not this new version) and then I had trouble again with a game I had been playing and was almost at the end of. All of a sudden, the game doesn't open but the manager does and I had to make a new shortcut so I can finish the game. Big Fish is so aggravating sometimes when it didn't used to be!

I have not downloaded the new GM yet, but those who have tested it from the beginning are saying that all works as it should now and that they are having no problems with it.

Oh, I thought you tried it on your Win 11 computer. I hope it is fixed and working right. I'm not trying it out yet though.

This is the second time I think where it happened that trying to open a game just opens the manager. I don't mind getting signed out but I do mind that!

Actually, you are correct - but it was my son who tried it on the Win 11 computer, when they were first working out the kinks. He had no issues with it. He then reverted back to the current GM. We decided to wait until the "official" version was available. We tend not to try to fix what isn't broken. It does sound like this beta is good to go, though.

I might have found out why sometimes the Game Manager has been opening up when I try to play a game. I have at least one game not shutting down properly but looks like it has. It continues running in the background and needs "end task" to be done in task manager, therefore, if I try to open a different game, the game manager opens instead. I'll have to check if that's the reason if/when it happens again. Previously, it seemed like it happened after being signed out of the GM so I thought that might be causing the issue somehow.

Latest glitch. Purchase History won't load. I'm using GM Version 4.0.1.5. Seems I can't download anymore unless I get the lastest and greatest.

I have the same version of the GM as you do so I just tested it out and I was able to download and install a game, so it's not that.

Same here. I still have the old GM on my old computer and I downloaded a game with it today.

The status now is that as long as you download games from your Purchase History, version 5 will not automatically download; however, if you download anything directly from the website, version 5 will automatically install.

Well, I tried several more games and all installed except one which gave me an error message on multiple attempts. Other games in that same series purchased on the same date, installed fine so I guess it is just that particular game.

It's not that I can't download a game, (which I can't, but that's not the point.) When I'm in Game Manager and click on Purchase History, Purchase History won't load. It used to load immediately. Now it's endless watching of the spinning loading icon.

I remember having that problem a while back, rtrooney. It only happened once and resolved itself after I came back and tried again a short while afterwards.

Unfortunately, the problem, which started Saturday night, still persists after numerous GM restarts, including at least two complete restarts and shutdowns. If I delete GM, with the intention of reinstalling the same version, I'm not sure I will be succesful ... i.e., I will be forced to install the new version.

If I'm buying, I do usually buy from the website (although I don't buy very often these days - since the price per game for non members escalated way too much) but I don't download from the website.

I just wait for it to appear in my Purchase History (accessed via the game manager icon on my Desktop) and then download it from there.

Yes, the question was meant for you. I know sometimes the Game Manager signs you out so I just thought I'd ask since I have no other thoughts on why this might be happening to you.

Mad, I always buy from the website and download from my Purchase History. I've never had a problem this way so I've stuck with it.

Whenever uninstalling the Game Manager, I always use the Big Fish Removal tool afterwards. It apparently gets rid of some leftover files.

Thanks for the link. I'm still having the issue with Purchase History, so the obvious solution is to uninstall/reinstall Game Manager. But I want to make sure I'm doing everything correctly, as I've seen some horror stories on FB re: unwanted upgrades to GM 5.x.

If I go through your link routine, will it reinstall GM 4.0.1.5? If not, I'm better leaving well enogh alone.

The other thing I ran across when researching the issue I am having with installing the game I previously mentioned, has to do with email addresses.

Have you changed your email address with Big Fish? I seem to remember you having trouble with the sign in before. I read that if you changed your email you may have some issues and you should try the old email even if the email is no longer active.

If you have backed up and saved the GM 4 version, you can use it to reinstall it. Otherwise, the new GM will be installed automatically when you download a game or demo from the website. That's all I know and I don't want to get you into further trouble. I would only do what you are comfortable with doing. I feel kind of paranoid about the whole thing myself. Too many issues people are experiencing and there seem to be more than a few variables in play.
