Traci,

Run your cursor over all areas slowly on all rooms... when you see a "live" area see which of your items it matches.

The elephant for instance... look at what you have. Try the jewel because it has elephant in its name. Where would you put guitar strings? After you place some of these items... you'll get the cheese!

I'm so sad because it's over... this is one game that I won't be able to replay for a long time... I have to forget all the matches.

Thanks to all who offered their suggestions! I didn't notice the
Click to reveal..
hot spot in the bookcase in the library that opened the secret room.
Once I found that (thanks to looney4labs for the hint page!), the rest fell into place! Thanks again!

Sincerely,
Traci

Hi,

I've played the game right through to the machine room at the end and really enjoyed it but I don't know what to do now. There aren't any hints and the book won't open.

Can anyone help?

Mave.

Mave, did you see the hints HERE that L4L posted? The machine room is at the bottom of that page.

Just finished. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to spend an afternoon with it. I liked it not being timed and thought it was more interesting than just a search and find game.
And it's free too!!! ............Teddo

Diane, if you search Mortimer Beckett on your browser, there are at least a dozen choices. All the standard eg. RealArcade, playfirst, but sadly not BigFish. Mortimer Beckett Download

I tried Mortimer Beckett but my screen kept flashing. It did the same with G.H.O.S.T. Hunters. I thought that was just lightning but it kept on all the time. Now it's happening with MB. I'm really annoyed because I so want to play the game. My son got me this laptop with extra features just to play games so I'm surprised it didn't like these two.

Oh, and Da Vinci Code was slooooooooooooooooooow. Too much lag to play. :{

Minxs, I can't help you but I already know the drill, you will need to provide your specs for the techs that can help you.

Unfortunately I had this happen with Jewel Match and another similar game and I never have found the solution. BFG really tried to help me but you just cannot play a game you cannot see.

Only things I can think of are: is your video driver up to date and is your Java up to date? It is worth it to check both out.

You might also want to try to download from another site just in case the download was bad.

Mortimer was a wonderful game and I hope you find the solution. You also might need to post over in glitches/tech support for better help duh

luck Linda

I never thought of asking BFG for help! Thanks for the tip.

I'll have to ask my son... One thing I do remember him saying is that with a laptop, you can't upgrade individual parts (like you can buy a better this or that for a PC). You can download stuff but not add better hardware.

After reading this I'm definitely motivated to try the different fixes, so maybe I'll get lucky.

Thanks again,

Margaret

Looney4labs, I looked up "error" on the BFG help page, and got an answer that I think could help. It applies if you are running Vista and games are slow, glitchy, or won't play after downloading, and it only involves downloading new software and/or drivers.

My son can do that kind of stuff so maybe there's hope!
