Is anyone else playing Glyph? It starts out as great fun. Then I got to level 2-24 "Seat of Fire". I must have played that level 60 times and I can't get through it. Does anyone have any ideas? I am about to ask for my money back as there are 5 levels, and I am not even 1/2 way through. Sorry to sound so grouchy, but I really am frustrated! Thanks for any help, HorseDancer

HorseDancer I'm not familiar with this game. Where did you find it?

Horsedancer, I googled but could not find any hints or tips for this game except one that said to exit the game if you knew you could not get through it so you could start the level over without losing a life. Hopefully, someone who has or is playing it will be by soon.

I got it at Big Fish, but e-mailed SandLot games who created? it. I have heard nothing back. I can try BF as they have been great about responding!
Thanks, HorseDancer

Hi hi,
I think I know the level you're talking about. The key to it is to get rid of the "diseased" stones ASAP. Do some matches, and if the power-up for wiping the board comes up (it's the square with 4 arrows around it) then match until it maxes out, then use it.
If some other power-up comes up, then just ESC - main menu - continue to restart the level. Good luck!

I started over and finally got through that level. I got one of the bombs and waited until it maximized and then set it off. It killed all the self generating onyx guys. I think I like the mysteries better!! What I REALLY want is a cheat that kills off all the multipliers. Otherwise this game starts to get tedious instead of fun!! Anyone know how to kill them off?? HI, Now I am stuck in the 3rd seat of water! I REALLY want a cheat that kills those little devil multipliers and shuts off the creaking timer!! It could be a really fun game, but I don't like levels are so darn hard that it takes 50 tries to get through one!! Beautiful graphics though! HorseDancer

HorseDancer, I'm with you. I wish game makers would make the timer optional so that folks who enjoy the challenge can have fun, but those like me who despise timers could also enjoy the game. Here, Here! I've been harping on this very thing for years but do they listen? nooooooooo If they made the timer optional the game would seem even longer and you would really think you are getting a lot of game play for your money. I would love to buy Azada but only if someone figures out how to turn off the timer.

I totally agree with all of you! I am replaying Big City San Francisco in relaxed mode and it's so much more fun. Big Kahuna Reef has that option too. Pantheon. I'm sure there are more.
Azada would definitely be better without the timer. Sometimes I let it run out deliberately and replay the easy parts in a rush so I can concentrate on the one that's stumping me. What is the point of that?
The only cheat I use in Cradle of Rome is the hourglass... I would not have bought the game without knowing there was a time cheat. In the demo, losing three lives and then losing all my buildings and people, was enough to turn me off.
Now, with the cheat, I can concentrate on the (hopeless) task of setting up 3 consecutive 5-in-a-row combos, to earn the Fisherman. Or making matches to earn coin.
With some match-3 layouts, I really do not see how anyone could beat the clock without incredible manual dexterity, luck, and a bad case of carpal tunnel syndrome.
I noticed that one of the game developers from whoever produces Dream Day Wedding and Honeymoon, put a note in Sally's comments (to her Minute Gamer blog) that there is a relaxed mode, since she was complaining about that too.
So maybe game developers are starting to hear?
Margaret

I wrote the following message to Sandlot Games, the developer: "I would like to direct you to a discussion on Gameboomers, an area made up mostly of babyboomers. Folks who have time and money to purchase games. http://www.gameboomers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=194196#Post194196We like to play the games, but would enjoy a more relaxed mode. I would love a cheat to turn off the timers and the multiplying onyx pieces in Glyph. Happy Trails," Maybe they will listen! We can only hope!! Happy Trails, HorseDancer

I write some cheats/trainers/scripts myself, but my abilities are pretty limited.
For one, I don't know how to change values that are time based. I wish there was a discussion thread on tsearch. :/ I know how to change concrete values written to memory (if there was a "money" value, I can change it)

I sent e-mail to all the addresses I could find for Sandlot Games! customer support, tech support PR, etc. I got a reply today so maybe something will happen. But we might be better off finding someone who can change the timer. Where are all the hackers when we need them??? If you would like to help, you could write to: support@sandlotgames.com Maybe if they get enough requests to have the option to remove the timer, someone will take action!! Here is the response: "I will forward your comments on to the production teams as they are definitely something we have heard requests for in the past. HorseDancer we do NOT support hackers in any way, form or fashion. If you are referring to time cheats, then please state that you want a cheat.

Well, I didn't exactly write a cheat. Instead I went into the game level files and... removed all the diseased stones. You can try them out here or you can do it yourself. It's really simple. Go into where you installed glyph, find the data\levels folder, find the file that refers to the level you are stuck in, and change all the "3?" to "30" - "3?" refers to diseased stones and "30" are normal colored stones. I'm thinking that you're probably stuck in the same level that drove me to drink - 3-7.

Boy, TexasLady, that sure hit your hot button!
What is your definition of "Hacker"? To me it is someone who can get into a file and change some of the attributes. And that is what I want to do in Glyph.
Since WE do NOT support hackers, is there a Gameboomers dictionary so that we all know the protocol?
I just followed Sally's advice and changed all the multiplying stones to regular stones. I swear that I had to do one level about 60 times because of those darn multipliers. And that takes all the fun out of the game for me.
Sally thanks so much for fixing this game!!!

As defined by Wikepedia here: Hacker can be defined in many ways. What is referred to here that GB doesn't support are the malicious type of hacking. There are things posted at other sites that GB doesn't like to have on board. Certain information that is deemed not beneficial to overall gaming is one and unethical practices are another. This is subjective I know but if in the end it will hurt the industry or show a bad example to kids, we do not support it.

Hi McG I checked the Wikepedia, and the defination of Hacker is so vast that it is not surprising that confusion can result from using that term. I have been a member of GB since January 02, 2001, so I felt that I was a part of the "we" in GameBoomers. I agree wholeheartedly with not supporting the negative connotations of hacking. One of the reasons that I play adventure games, love the old Sierra games and joined GB is that they promote fun and positive energy. When I went through a horrible divorce, the GB folks were so supportive! Sue, if I offended you, that was not my intent or meaning. And now back to GAMES!! Happy Trails, Horsedancer

Hi MaG Yes, things are good for me. Especially compared to two years ago!! There is a beautiful new stud colt named Kokopelli, and I have started giving riding lessons again! And playing games. For awhile I could not concentrate long enough to really play the adventure games, so am still having fun with the new casual games! Have a great day! HorseDancer
