As always(almost)"the same" game have "different" names. My question is about Scratches. Some time after they issued a new version Scratches Directors Cut (this one with some changes) and to make me have to ask a question I now see this game in my local game shop with a third name Scratches Special edition Does anyone know if this "third baby" is the same as the second

I googled for a special edition and came up with nothing.

Snap it up, Lagavulin. It might be a printing error on the box. EDIT: No, apparently not a printing error. I found it here. And there also IS a Director's Cut version here.Going by the dates listed at Amazon UK, the Special Edition cameout in May 2007 and the Director's Cut was released in September 2007. So if you have the Director's Cut, you have the most recent version.

Strangely enough though no info is given on what "extra" the special edition contains.

The Special Edition and Director's Cut appear to be one and the same. Got Game issued a press release on 23 May 2007 see here stating that the "Director's Cut" version had shipped to retail - and as Becky states above, May was also the release date of the so-called Special Edition. Ever so slightly confusing.
