In the last two games I've played, the sound effects have included (of all things) coughing! The coughing doesn't appear to be coming from any of the characters, just background noise. It actually seems as though that when the developer recorded that scene, someone in the studio had a bad cold. What is the significance here? Am I missing something? This is weird. It made me want to avoid the scenes as much as possible so I wouldn't "catch" whatever it was they had. :shiver:

Which games are you talking about, Cappy?
Are they recent ones?
Are they from the same developer?
Could they be using some prefabricated "ambient background noise" that's meant for particular environments?

Cappy,

Is one of the game - Ghost in the Sheet? There's coughing in the background in that game.

Yes, MaG, one is Ghost in the Sheet. The other game is Darkness Within. I don't want to tell you the scene because it might be deemed a spoiler. The coughing in that scene was totally out of character. As for Ghost, at least there was some other character in the scene, although why he would cough is beyond me.

I'm not sure if they are the same developer, Jenny. I'd have to look it up.

Hi Cappy...

I did notice the coughing in Darkness....But I figured it was the fact that it was foggy & smokey in some of the scenes..

Added something to the game I think....I do notice in most of the games...there is always a Crow...Crowing away wink

lol

Hi Cappy!

Regarding Darkness Within, I thought the coughing was due to:

Click to reveal..
This is a quote from Clark Field's notes #2 regarding the chambers. "The air was dominated by some kind of thick decaying smell which caused me to cough frequently."

It made sense to me that Howard would cough.

Oooooh, "Q", I missed that quote. I guess that explains the coughing in Darkness. Thanks.

I agree with you, Darleen2003, Crows are "in" this season in adventure games. I wonder what next year will bring. Hmmmmm.

No, hedgehogs make the strangest of noises. I've had a few scurrying around my tent while camping out. They sniffle, burp, whistle, snort and squeak. lol

I'll be back, one day, when I feel like it.

Now, THAT should be a challenge for developers: working a sniffle, burp, whistle, snort and squeak into the storyline. I can't wait to see how they do it. happydance
