Lagavulin -- we are in the process of finding out more about this game. Meanwhile -- if anyone knows anything -- post it here!

From the Akella site:

Quote:
A couple more minutes and you would have been dead. Dead inside the twisted, smoking remains of your crashed ship. As you struggle to stay on your feet watching the smouldering wreckage you realize that the Free Search Group you fly for wont reach this far out again. Not for a long while.

So now Max Kammerer is going to have to find his own way home, and you know it's not going to be easy.

This world of Sarraksh, upon which our hero is stranded, is a decaying civilization. After years of the nuclear conflict the resources of this world are severely drained and the society seems doomed, close to a new conflict. Can Max find a way to get off this troubled world before he gets embroiled in its problems or is it already too late?

Key features:

* An original storyline based on a bestselling novel by the Strugatsky brothers
* Photorealistic graphics
* 10 chapters with more than 100 unique locations
* Fantastic 3D sound environment and original soundtrack

HERE you can find some screens of the game.

Unfortunately, no mention of an english release up to now...

The game may be an action/adventure as described Here.

The publisher has described this to us as a traditional adventure game. We should have more to report about the game in the next few weeks. We've seen mixed signals about it, so we're hoping to learn more soon.

Thanks Becky! I wonder if they changed directions when creating it because those screenshots sure look like action shots.

I know. I've been assuming it had significant action elements also, until the publisher said otherwise. We're trying to get our hands on an early copy to help decide the issue. grin

think

There are actually two different games, I think.

One called Inhabited Island: Prisoner of Power an action game

This is from the Akella page about Prisoner of power:

This second game based upon the huge sci-fi novel from the renowned writers, the Strugatsky brothers, 'Inhabited Island', is a total departure from the adventure story setting of Inhabited Island: Earthling. Prisoner of Power is a first-person shooter combining seat of the pants adventure with nail-biting stealth elements.

More info would be great though.

Cheers

Ana, the site of the link you posted made a huge mistake!
As Lagavulin said, there are 2 different games, both made by Akella.
Inhabited Island:The Earthling is a kind of Myst-like game, as you can see from the screens in Akella's site, that I posted above.
Nothing to do with the other game that is an action/FPS, even if with a similar title!

lol Carla, somehow I missed the screenshots in your previous post. I'll link to them again here.

These are a big improvement -- no gun in the foreground, for instance. grin And thanks for the link to the preview!

The link posted by BrownEyedTigre went to Strategy Informer and they listed the genre as Strategy, not Adventure. From the look of the screenshots I would say any adventure there would be boring, it does look more like a strategy game to me! Not my kind of game, that's for sure. So I won't be picking on this one!

Sierramindy, read Carlas post a few up from yours and she explained that they made an error. The game is 100% adventure.

Oh, I read the the preview link in Carla's post, but it still comes across as more strategy than adventure to me. That is because I am very fussy about what adventure means to me. Just calling it so, doesn't make it so in my book. Myst is known as an adventure game, but I can't imagine why, just that it came along about the same time and they didn't know what else to call it. Labels aren't always accurate!

Phoebe -- so far we haven't heard any news as to whether the game will release in an English language version.
