I am near the end of Act 2. I have cleaned the bird and left the hotel. I have the key to the Pub but when I get to the door, I am not able to use the key. He keeps saying that it's not the thing to do. I don't get the use icon either. I can't find anything I have left out so I'm a bit lost. Can someone help?

If that is the key given by the Inspector, you need only to use it. I don't understand why not possible.
Try exit the game, load and replay. Hopefully, that will get it over the hump.

I tried exiting and going back in, but I still can't use the key. It's the key that says Smugglers Pub key. Could I get a save after the door is open?

Charward please go back and talk to Poirot at his office. Ask the finger thing what still needs to be done. It sounds like something is missing or you should be able to go into the pub.
I doubt that anyone will have a saved game at that exact spot.

Be sure to check the diary that all items there have been completed too.

I did the finger thing. It says assist Oakley, talk to Linda and assist Jenks. I went back and replayed most of Act 2. I still cannot get into the pub. I went forward to the Leathercombe Bay with Linda and the candles and getting money and the knitting book. But Istill can't get into the pub. Maybe a save after cleaning the bird or close to that. I am really stuck now.

I sent it an hour ago.

I got the save, It got me to Act 3. I have talked to Marshall, found the stolen photo and talked to Barry. I am now at Linda Marshall's room and I can't use the stethoscope on the door. I can't use in on Gardner's door either. I did get the patch and installed it but that didn't help. I don't know what is happening with this game.

You are missing triggers that move the game along Charward. Try to enter other rooms from the balcony and see if you can't find other clues that will allow you to eavesdrop.

I'm sure you are right, but I have no clue what they are. I have gone back and replayed the game using the walkthrough and get the same result. I check the finger of suspicion and I need to eavesdrop the Marshalls and the Gardners, but I can't use the stethoscope. So I don't know what triggers I am missing.

I'd tell you to send me your saved game but yours is patched and mine isn't.
I seemed to get hung in areas when I hadn't talked to everyone necessary. Go to every area that you have access to, talk to all, be sure to check your journal and see what you might have missed please. Be sure to check all areas for people you might not have talked to lately.

I started this game over and now I am having problems even sooner than before. I don't know what it the problem but I'm thinking of uninstalling and reinstalling and staring over again. I like these game but this is the first one I have had real problems with.

Char I don't know where you are hitting snags but I found the game to be pretty much step by step. If I skipped conversation or clicking on a clue then I was stuck until I figured out what I missed.
Go back and use the finger thing when you get stuck and maybe that will clue you in on what is missing?

I went back and started a new game. But now I am having problems even earlier. I have done everything I think but I can't, for example, use the binoculars to look at the water. So I think I am going to uninstall and reinstall and see if I can start over successfully.

I have the same problem as Sue, with the patched versus unpatched game.

Could this be a question of positioning? I know that there was only one place where I could see the ocean through the binoculars--maybe you could trying moving the binoculars from place to place a teeny bit at a time until you find the right place.

When I reinstall I will have the unpatched version. So maybe I can use my saves until I first had problems. We'll see.

I had to stop playing for awhile. Had a fall and really messed up my knee. Will see an orthro Monday. Hope to get back to this soon.

I uninstalled and reinstalled this game. I did not patch it this time. I have tried to follow the walkthrough exactly. But now I have the binoculars and have seen the periscope of a sub but I do not see the red sailed sailboat. I continued to Marshall's room and listened, to Darnley's room and got the typing paper. Then to Mrs. Castle's office. I could do everything up to the silver key. But I cannot open the keyhole to get the gold key. So now I am stuck here. I can't begin to imagine what has been left out.

Did you check on another view? If you turn right, there's another view. Maybe left, can't remember. You should see the sailboat.
There are 4 views on that lookout place.

I've looked at all of them. No sailboat. I just can not start this over again.

Do you want asaved game in Act 2?

Yes, please. This is happening sooner this time around than it did last time. But a save anywhere after Mrs. Castle in the Lookout Tower would be helpful. Thanks
