I can't find any. Also, I know some have tried and liked Loki (like Maggie), but has anyone tried The Chosen yet? If so, what say you? Pray tell. think

Sig, someone mentioned working on a Loki walkthrough here on the Loki official forum, but so far I haven't seen anything. That forum has a lot of information about the game though.

I haven't heard anything about a Chosen walkthrough. The official site doesn't have a forum, and in fact, doesn't even have the support up yet. There's links to reviews of the game here if you're interested though.

Thanks, Nickie. These 2 games are next in my queue of ones to try. I'm willing to try 'em both without walkthroughs---the more important thing, for me, is that there are trainers for both games. Loki sounds fairly straightforward. If I hit a puzzle room or something, I can probably find out what the trick is. Want to try The Chosen first, though, when they get here. wave

Hope you let us know what you think when you do Sig. Interesting that they're releasing Chosen as a budget game. wave

Hi,

Does anyone know if this game will work on Windows 2000 and is it a play alone type or is it only online type?

I have 2 sites that tell me 2 different information.

EB Games says:

Windows XP/Vista 32/64-bit
Pentium4 2GHz/AthlonXP 2000+
512 MB RAM
64 MB DirectX 9 compatible (GeForce4 Ti/Radeon 9000)
DirectX 9 compatible, DirectX: 9.0c or higher (supplied on the game DVD)
Hard disk space: 7 GB
Multiplayer: LAN/broadband Internet for online play and 1 GB RAM

Amazon says:

Windows Vista / XP / 2000

Here's the specs from the official site:
Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista
Pentium III 1.4 GHz
DirectX compatible 3D accelerator card (64MB+ RAM)
256 MB RAM
600 MB hard drive space
4x CD-ROM
Mouse & Keyboard

So it is meant to play on Windows 2000 anyway.
It's standalone. Multi-player is online.

Welcome to Gameboomers derWalrus! Hopefully you get a response - this one and this other one have pretty much been all that has been mentioned by people playing the game. Are you enjoying it?

I have found this game to be a sleeper! It is exceptional. I have been gaming since the text adventures and have played every RPG I could find over the years - so this is a qualified opinion.

It moves along like Titan Quest, but, has "save" anytime. Rapid loads. It accommodates a number of playing styles from a "run alone" archer to a "Tank" with henchmen.

The item modification system is one of extreme balance. Too complex to go into here, but, a player could modify his equipment rather than buy new equipment. The cost may be higher, but, the stuff is better than you can buy.

And there is magic at a steep cost.

Very hard to be a multi talented character here.

The game changes gear by letting you recruit some volunteers in some areas, while other areas have you play as a party of 1 with a summoned (an expendable) helper. After you advance into the game you can trap and summon demons to help.

Money is scarce and resource management can accommodate a number of methods.

There is much, much to do in areas other than fighting.

The demo is really a pale portrait of the full game.

Thanks for the info! One of the threads did mention the cauldron of creation and it sounds interesting. You mention magic at a steep cost. Can you be a magic user in this game?

Yes, a magic user can become quite powerful. The trade off is that you have to put just about every XP you get into magic. However this is true for whatever specialty. I an running an Archer and I am level 20. You get 5 XP for each level up. You start your character with a level 35 in their selected skill. I have 127 in Dexterity and have only place a few points in strength so I could wear some armor. So, a Mage would be in a like situation.

There are also some abilities to choose from. You get 1 point per level for these. They are in Offense, Defense and Other. Proper selection helps build the character. You can have one from each category "running" at the same time.

Your "Helper" a Golem (a melee Tank)or a Neferkar (a flying ranged thingee) is a summoned creature. Upon their death you must spend 500 gold for a scroll to revive them. Expensive. They are a huge help. However, I have found I must go it alone at times to save money to repair my gear. Everything is a balancing act.

I have played Loki through about 3 or 4 times, have not used a walkthrough, for some reason this game does not need it. Hard to get lost, but easier to get killed. Love the game, highly recommend it. I have not played The Chosen, is it a point and click???

Thanks and hope it was a help

Thanks, your enthusiasm for the game is encouraging, and I may have to try it sometime. According to the link above Maggie, Sig said it was mostly point and click, with hitting the space bar for pause.

It is a great game, there are four characters from four different lands, play the big guy last, he has the toughest animal towards the first half to kill. It is a keeper game for me and I was never dissappointed with it at all.By the way, Sig is right, it is about 95% point and click, so you know I like it.

Sorry sweet Maggie, I meant the Chosen. I did try Loki and...well, let's just say I don't think of it fondly.

I have played The Chosen once through and I really enjoyed it.
I have started with a few more people just to have something to fool around with.

It is easy point and click and with the summoned help it goes quick.

I love using the shotgun in this game hehe. smile

Looked for The Chosen - and so far can only find it as a pay and download - is that correct or can you buy a "hard copy"? Not that I really care but I do like my shiny little disks laugh

I played The Chosen and really liked the game, but I had to resort to a trainer because you never had enough money to buy things. grin I got half-way through without the trainer and found myself hanging around waiting to heal because I couldn't buy healing. You have to spend most of your money on repairing your equipment.

Syd, it's available on CD and at a very reasonable price. Here is one place you can buy it.

I am at the Desert City and still doing well on money. Tight, but, OK. I invested in the talent that causes you "to take care of your equipment". I also use my alternate weapon to smash stuff.

I refrain from using my Golem unless I have to as he is expensive (though he might be cheaper than repairing weapons).

How big is this game. How far through are you when you are in the Desert City?

I am running an Archer. What did you run?

Do you (or any of you on the forum) recall the fight with Scorpo? I think I missed something there. I activated the two glyphs on the rooftops and noticed that two towers gained a "glow" at their bases. I figured these would help kill Scorpo, but they only attacked me. I had to kill him with my shoot and dodge technique. What did you do or find there?

Thanks nickie - I seem to be on a game buying jag today (who da thunk it) lol I just bought Arcanum, Dawn of Magic and Grim Fandango (my son lost Disk B some time ago and I've been meaning to replace it). Guess I'll end my day like I began and buy, buy, buy laugh
