I got it by trial and error. I just juggled them around a bit to see what works. Give it a moment to register if you think they look even.

Hi Skyla,

Here's a very easy solution for the pearls.
Click on the link. I don't know how to post the
pics on here like you guys do.

Pearl Solution

I hope I'm doing this right. If I'm not, hopefully Ana can help me out.

bravo Thanks Margie! Nice to see you back too!

Thanks Skyla, Margies a pro at pics, she was just referring to having it show on the board. We prefer you link to them, they use less bandwidth.

Hi Patsy, If I could do it I'm sure you can. Take your time. Go back to part 1 of this thread read over the explanations. As you start out no tiles of same color should be next to each other.
Did you get the timer patch? Than you don't have to worry about time.Lillian

LK9, I haven't played this, but I remember reading in another thread that there was one on the wall. Did you find that one?

I forgot that one by the gear. You're correct. There are leaves behind in the background left and right side.
I'll see if I can find a screenshot and redo those red X.

tascha,

Is this the decoding?
If so:
See the decoder over the letter.
Move that decoder until the middle hole centers on the red letter of the main letter.
You will then be able to read the message.
Now - click each of the holes so that the letters are seen at bottom left. When the message is complete Holmes will say something about it. luck

At this point you are probably going crazy with this one!

Here is the BEST strategy to work through it.

For the sewing box puzzle...
1. ALWAYS write down the number sequence you put in. It will help you to not enter the same wrong number twice. Write it down every time and underline or circle the numbers you have right.

2. If by the second try you have less than 2 numbers right, start over. It will save you time.

For the string puzzle:
1. To start, pull the outer pins to the outside. This will give you wiggle room in the middle.

2. This is the most important: DO NOT pay any attention to the red strings. More than likely you have more that two strings crossed so it is useless to concentrate on just one. Just use your own judgement and pick out which crossed strings you can work with the most. I promise you will finally get it if you dont pay any attention to the red strings!

eastcoast, the red strings are merely the last string you pulled. They are red no matter if they are cleared or not. As soon as you click on another string they turn green again.

As far as the sewing box, if you do it my way 1-0 across or MaG's way 1-5, 1-5 and up it by one as a process of elimination you won't have to write it down. I get about 8 in ten tries correct that way.

Thanks for sharing your tips and welcome to GameBoomers!

For some reason, I do not have all of the evidence taken from the hideout in my inventory. The game indicates that I have everything I need to solve the crime, but after taking all of the samples from the lab, I am still missing the knife, the ashes from the cigar and the alabi. However I do remember picking this stuff up, but I cannot complete the deduction board. I know who the culprit is, I just can't prove it.
Hmmmm, I wonder what I did wrong???

BTW all of you (including Patsy) stuck on the B&W tile puzzle...think of it as a game of leap frog. No two tiles of the same color can stay together, you can't jump two. Keep them BWBWBW, etc. Hope this helps
