Hi Syd, did you see Pokey's note about running to the bank in the Pit, depositing her gold, & then dying? It's something I never thought about, & something I wouldn't have thought possible. I have made it out of the Pit by running to the door, but it's very hard. if you don't have a lot of gold, you could just accept the death & still have the book.
There is no way to tell which tavern you've won arcomage at. All you can do is what you're doing - keep track of each one. When you go back to the person who gave you the quest, if you've won at all of them, you'll get the reward. If you don't get it, you missed one.

If you deposited your money in a bank, you can just die. If you didn't, like me, you make a run for it, either the bank or the tunnel, and hope the bank is open (6PM-6AM). I had a lot at the time and didn't want to go bankrupt. If you get to the tunnel, I believe you may be able to cast invisibilty again and that can get you out. Going around the right side is easier.
Aren't the number arcomage wins recorded in Awards?

Accck - I knew there was something about depositing money and dying but for the life of me couldn't find it - I have about 39,000 on me right now. I've done The Breeding Zone at least twice so I guess one more time won't hurt me. I'll go back to a save, deposit my money in a bank somewhere and hit the area again today. Thanks you two. Oh and Pokey - the game does keep track - at least I thought it did - it shows I've won 14 now since I went back to Celeste to see if that was one I missed - it obviously wasn't. Not sure what happened but I guess I'll hit them all again. I kind of like playing the silly little game now

No Pokey I didn't check the chest - will definitely do that as soon as I sign off from here. I just talked to her and she said to return when I had won and I was seriously depressed to hear that - I want the gold And I have the book or (I had the book - I made the guy at the School of Sorcerey very happy) and all but 133 of my original gold. I am now an Archmage Thank you Barb and Pokey. I never would have made it through without you two. Now to Grandmaster in Water so I can use my Lord's Beacon book I found in some chest somewhere.

The best protection against Tolberti is Protection Against magic at grandmaster level. It's a Body magic spell. I hope your cleric has GM body. Tolberti can't eradicate you when that is cast. The problem with it is every time Tolberti shoots a spell at you, your protection saves you, but it loses some of its power, so you have to keep casting it.
One thing I've found with Tolberti that works is to go into his house invisible, then wait until he gets into a corner, or at least against a wall. If you block him so he can't get away from you, he can't heal himself. Keep your cleric casting protection from magic after one or two rounds, keep shooting Acid Burst or Implosion at him, & he'll go down. GM earth resistance might help, but it's not absolutely necessary.
You can sell the book of Divine Intervention unless you want to learn that spell. I think it takes GM Light magic.

Hi, The only way I got Tolberti is to get right in his face as Barb mentioned and whack away at him with everything you have got. You can also save the book in your castle chest and go to the arbitrator and tell him you lost it and he will keep giving you another one. After you collect a few then go sell them and make money that way too.

Good idea, Magic. I never thought of that. Another way to make some money is to fly up to the Titan's Stronghold & go through it invisibly. There are some huge piles of gold laying about.

Hi, Oh I did just that and don't go until you have invisibility for a long time and you can get a lot of loot. That is the only way to go in there. Another chest that has a lot of money and other good stuff is in Barrow Downs. When you are standing in front of the Tavern you go behind and walk a little ways in that direction and you will find the chest. Be ready to either kill a lot of enemies or run back toward the tavern because this chest teleports you to the south area where there are a lot of different enemies. This chest also refills every so often so check it to see if it has more stuff.

I'm not sure about the arbiter since I never tried it. Maybe you have to do it before you take the book to Thomas Grey, since after you see him it's no longer a quest item.
The only way I know to increase personality is to drink from one of the blue barrels.

Hi,
Maybe the book quest only works while it is active....don't remember for sure. Sorry.
Maybe until you bring it back to Thomas Grey...who knows.
Well the chest works every (was it 6 months or a year)time the place respawns. Every chest in the game works the same way. Just keep picking up stuff to sell.

Man I'm glad I read the last couple posts - I'm off to get my Cleric GM in Body Magic. I'm right now Town Portalling (I know that wasn't a word but now it is) all over the place playing Acromage - 6 down 7 to go. I hope this time it takes - I want my gold especially since I didn't win the Mega Lotto yesterday (could be because I didn't buy a ticket) I did get the chest at Barrow Downs cleaned out - killed all those little fire shooting critters -

Don't know of any secrets, it's just tough. Easier if you have sparks, incinerate, implosion or mass distortion spells.

You do have a long way to go, Pokey. I usually set a beacon before the first turn, then kill the behemoths one by one, teleporting back to Harmondale to rest after each one. Once you've cleared out that first section, you can use Invisibility to get most of the way to the end.

Hi, I agree with what Barb says. It is slow going and Lloyd's Beacon sure helps along the way. Keep at it and you will make it through before you know it and don't forget to bookmark the place when you get there.
