Point taken, Robert.

Presumably there is no way in which a Saved game from me could be inserted into somebody else's game folder, to enable them to play the game? When I used to try and get the game to run, I found that I could access the Load arrow on the introductory screen, though it always showed empty slots (obviously). The game always froze when the narrator started on his "The seas.." so if a Save could be got into the right slot, would that help? I guess the save would have to be the one that saved the first screen in the decompression chamber, since the Escape key trick simply cuts out the introductory video sequence, and KingKnightRider said that the game ran fine for him after that.

If there is a chance that this would work, I'd be happy to send a Save - if I were to be told how to do it. I don't know if my saves go into the game folder or My Documents or somewhere else, but I am willing to give it a go.

What I think should happen with the [ESC] technique, is that the game jumps to the decompression chamber and assumes a new game. If you can only access the LOAD panel, then I don't expect a saved game to help.

Well since this technique does not work for me, I'm not qualified to answer questions about it. smile

Robert, when I originally (and unsuccessfully) loaded Nautilus in XP, the only panel I could not access was the New Game panel. I could open the Load/Save panel and the Movies panel, though they were both empty of course, and I could read the credits, explore the Options, and Exit. I was just a-wondering whether you could fool the game by putting the decompression chamber save (saved as soon as the chamber was entered) into the saved game folder, which I found on the C-drive in the Nautilus folder.

I notice now that the New Game panel no longer works: the Escape subterfuge doesn't seem to cut the mustard a second time. But the game runs OK from the Load panel.

I was also wondering if the game will freeze when it tries to run further movies. Guess I'll have to plough on and see.

I am glad to hear that this trick worked for some of you. I also tried starting another new game and it would freeze even if I hit the ESC key. I got very aggravated after several attempts. That I just kept hitting the esc key repeatedly right after I hit the new game button. Before the narrator could even finish the word the IE> "T......." If I managed to tap quickly enough it would launch a new game.

As far as I can tell in order for video files to show up in the main screen a game must be loaded then exited back to the main menu for the videos to show up.

The Save folder is located in the game directory in the folder entitled “Save” and for me are titled Save.001, Save.002, and Save.003 ect. In the Load / Save Screen in the game the save slots relate to the triple number ending of the save files.

Save.001 Save.002 Save.003
Save.004 Save Preview Save005
Save.006 Save.007 Save.008

I deleted all of my save games (backed them up on another Hard Drive) and then launched the game it showed no saved files. So I went and reinserted my saved games and it still managed to find them as long as they still said "Save.00# (1-8)

For the ingame videos it would take the CD drive a little time to read the video files and then play them but the game for the most part never crashed. As far as I can tell the game only crashes on me with Intro and Extro video files and I believe that it has something to do with the two .syn files that are used with the Intro and Outro video files.

I have over 110 Games and only about 5 will not work. I am using Vista.

Someway, Somehow If I have it I will get it to work!!!
