Kaki, I have not tried ejecting the CD but I will next time and update.
Robert, the file versions are exactly the same as yours.
My Export Key looks like this:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microfolie's\L'Amerzone\1.0]
"res"="c:\\Program Files\\Amerzone\\"
"source"="C:\\"

Only difference being "Program Files" instead of "games"
The 6 VR directories are in the root directory of C:
Maybe I should reinstall the games to the "games" directory instead of "program files" ?

Thanks again for the help.

Right Uncle Reg, it has been a while since I played the game and could not remember. What it does is show a screen with Chapter # and to proceed you just right click with the mouse.

With a normal installation, I expect that you would then be asked to change CDs.

Backdoc77,

Perhaps an uninstall and reinstall might help but I've got some doubts about that. The directory ought not to matter unless it is a question of how you log onto the system. Windows can be picky about where programs are installed and that has been getting worse with each newer version of Windows. I log on at the administrator level and never have that type of problem.

I don't see anything wrong with what you have reported. What you have done should work.

When you try to start the game, do it without any CDs in the drive and start using either the link placed on your "desktop", the autorun.exe in the game directory or amerzone.exe.

Ok, so I've got some new info. I installed the game on an older XP system (SP2) with an AGP video card. I changed the install path to c:/games and altered the registry. The game starts and plays perfectly with no cd's.
I reinstalled the game on my newer XP system (SP3) with a newer GT 8800 (PCI Express) video card. I changed the install path to C:/games and altered the registry. This time the game started with no problem without the CD in the drive but locked up within 5 minutes (when I opened the gate).
So in conclusion it looks like it's a probable hardware conflict. Amerzone does not like newer XP systems? I'm also thinking it might be an audio issue because on the older XP system the clock by the old man ticked normally. On the newer XP system, the clock seemed to double tick. Just a guess though.
Anyway, I'm going to install the game on my 1 year old Win7 machine tonight. But my hopes are not high frown

Thanks again for all the help. I'll update soon.

I think the problem is more with the drivers for the newer computer.

If you're having crashes, try reducing audio acceleration to one notch above none. You may also try reducing video (hardware) acceleration.
