With the opening of the Game Convention in Leipzig, be ready to be flooded with news!
Here's the first one:
Quote:
TGC continues the successful adventure series and sends the famous sorcerer´s apprentice to a fascinating alternative world.

Berlin/Leipzig, 20th August 2008: At this year´s Games Convention, TGC – The Games Company surprises adventure fans with a thrilling announcement: The Berlin-based publisher is going to continue the famous adventure series featuring Simon, the charismatic sorcerer´s apprentice. Under the working title Simon the Sorcerer 5 TGC´s in-house development unit is currently working at the fifth sequel of the series, which -with far more than 700,000 sold units – is one of the most successful adventure brands of all times and highly appreciated all over the world.

Simon the Sorcerer 5 sends adventurers to a futuristic game world, in which they experience a turbulent backward journey through history in order to help Simon to recover his memory. Adventure fans will meet again many old acquaintances from earlier Simon the Sorcerer games and encounter fantastic vehicles like steam-powered space ships in the imaginative alternative universe. The innovative puzzle design demands a new approach to solving the missions even from experienced adventurers. The ambitious point & click adventure is rounded off by its crazy sense of humor and a dense story full of twists and turns.

Markus Malti, CEO at TGC, sees enormous potential in the new game: "Within the community the brand Simon the Sorcerer enjoys a similarly high reputation as the good old Lucas Arts adventures. With Simon the Sorcerer 5 we do not only want to fulfill but exceed the expectations of the genre fans. We will achieve this with innovative puzzle elements and a unique, fresh game world."

Alternative universe? Steam Space ships? smirk

Simon the Sorcerer 4 was such a huge disappointment for me that I eventually gave up on it, after repeatedly failing to overcome my boredom while playing. Therefore, I am not thrilled with these news.

I loved the first two Simon games. The third game was not up to par in my opinion but I would love to give four and five a chance just because of the great puzzles and humor of the first two installments. happydance

It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

There is a new post on ACG with the producer of Simon the Sorcerer 4. In it, he never mentioned Simon the Sorcerer 5 at all!

That's not surprising. The interview must have been made a while ago and the producer had to keep his lips shut tight before GC. These are the rules of marketing. frown

welcome to GameBoomers ruthie. There is a link on the top of the forum that says Latest and Upcoming Adventure that has all the release dates listed. Simon 4 is still under "waiting" for a release date unfortunately.
