I got this email today and I'm wondering if it's on the up-and-up. I was going to copy it in here but just thought that if there was a virus or something attached I didn't want to bring it here.

The short of it is that because of asking for a patch for the persian carpet game (wanting to get rid of the timer) they want me to beta the new Mata Hari game they have coming out.

The thing is that I don't remember emailing them at all. I know I agreed with someone in this forum that a patch for the timer would be great so I'm wondering if frogwares checks out our forums or if this is bogus.

I got the same email today as well along with some screenshots for the game which I thought were awesome. Screenshots went through virus check and came up clean so.....any how I did respond as I would love to do it. I did email Frogwares for the persain carpet patch and my email had that in the subject as well so it's almost like they replied to that email I sent...I don't know could be wrong. We'll see.......

At least one Frogwares developer does come to this site so it's possible that they emailed folks who expressed interest in the patch from that thread.

I can't speak for the email (I didn't get one) but I do know that they are in beta testing for Mata Hari.

jldcat, please email Frogwares direct and ask them. I know that some of us have been testing it the last week but it was not from an unsolicited mail. Please also remember that if you do test it, we do not discuss details on the board.

I wonder if they got the names from Big Fish. If not, and they got it here - I better talk to them.

I got one too, and I have never e-mailed them.
Ooops, I had e-mailed them about trouble with a Vista patch.
So their contact with me was a result of my own e-mail and not from them checking BigFish or this forum.

I also received this offer. I have not downloaded it yet for the same reasons mentioned in this thread. Looks interesting and have concern over virus etc.

They notified me by e-mail and also cited my request for a patch as the source of my e-address. If anyone gets additional information I would be interested in it. In their message this morning they have outlined their requirements on feedback from me regarding the new game.

I haven't heard from them though I did email them about the patch.

I emailed their support group so I just have to wait and see if they email back.

I'll post here when I hear from them.

I believe they are sending the emails to the people that have actually emailed them about a game of theirs. Cuz I recieved an email about this too. I checked it no virus in mine. Trisha

Frogwares mailed me a download when I gave my answer, but it doesn't work. Wrote back, thinking that something might have happened. The pictures came out great but not the other download. Haven't heard yet. I do love their games and hope that they do answer.

What do you mean it doesn't work?
Do you mean you can't copy/paste the download link they give into your browser toolbar and have it download something?
Or do you mean you downloaded the game but can't get it to work?

Since this is a private offering between Frogwares and select individuals it would be better for anyone involved to please direct all communication to Frogwares. Thank you for your understanding.
