Check #3. There are I think 2 entries for Grimble - Select Hermann Grimble, Sherringford Hall, 15th of October, 1897.
Also check #4, there might be 2 of those also. Select letter from Bromsby to Fowlett 11/12/96. luck

Thank you for your help. I went to the bedroom with the safe and I got the papers I needed to go on. It was no.4 that was wrong. Now I'm on Marty and the dog. I may have to come back for a save game.

This is from the walkthrough:

1. Follow Marty by clicking on bottom of screen.
2. The view is now looking down at the compound.
3. Move Holmes to follow Marty at a discreet distance until Holmes is behind the cart-wheelbarrow right of the long shed - workers cloakroom.
4. Place the feet cursor just in front of the office building door.
5. Wait for the dog to pass the right lamp post and click to get Holmes to walk or run to the office door.
6. Take the gold key found on the office floor by map wall earlier and use it on door.

luck

I have a saved game that will put you past both sequences with Marty if you are desperate, but try the above first and see if it works for you.

OK, Got passed Marty and the dog. Now its to put out the fire. I got to the fire now I'm being timed to get back to the water before it runs out. Is there a way I can play without the timer on. I got to the pond when it run out.
which side of the walkthroug do I use to put the fire out.

Kathy,

The best tip I can offer you for this timed sequence is not to click madly away, hoping that that might make Holmes move faster. It doesn't - he'll get confused, stop dead in his tracks and waste precious seconds. Take your time with the clicks, just keep him running at a steady pace.

As for following the walkthrough, follow the screenshot instructions on the left column of the page first, then the right column.

luck, let us know how you get on.

The folder location is: C:\Program Files\Digital Jesters\Frogwares\The Case of the Silver Earring\save

The saves in the game folder are only given a 4 digit number, so you should keep with that form.

So, if for example your last save is 0010, then rename the save that I sent you to be 0011, keeping the file extension (jpeg) exactly the same. luck

I'm sorry but some why I lost my saved game. Is there away I can sent you one of my saved game at this part of the game and you finish the time game part so I can go on with my game.
Kathy2
P.S. On my save it gives me the day and date that I saved it. I think I have all mixed up now. Maybe my save game will help.

It would be better if we work on getting the saved game installed on your computer since you have the game installed already.

First - download the sent saved game to your desktop.
It is in a picture form.
The open the game folder - as mentioned by Rushers - C:\Program Files\Digital Jesters\Frogwares\The Case of the Silver Earring\save folder.
Then check what is the last number in that save folder.
Relabel the downloaded saved agme file to be the last number.
Place the saved game folder together with the rest. Then look for the DATE of that folder that is sent. It might arranged in the load page by date done.
Load it and play. Good luck.

Mag.
I have the save game on my dasktop, but it's not in picture form.
The last save number is 0010 now do I rename it 0011. The last date is 9/9/08. Look for DATE on the sent save game. Thanks Sorry for all the trouble I'm making.

I sent you 2 saved games with Marty and the dog - going to the office and going to warehouse.
Please relabe them carefully to be the last in your file.
They are both in picture form.
