GameBoomers received a letter today from Frogwares, creators of the Sherlock Holmes adventure games.

Quote:
We are proud to give our players the ultimate version of Sherlock Holmes the Awakened Remastered. The game is now ready after nearly a year of work and innovations, the new version includes very unique features of the adventure genre and we can't wait to see it in your hands!

The game is to be released October 23rd.

- First person perspective/third person perspective system. Play as you like, switch at anytime during the game.

- "Help" space bar. In third person perspective, you can just press the space bar and see all available hotspots that you can click on.

- Progressive help. If you are stuck in the game, you can use this new feature and find step-by-step indications to go further. Use with moderation!

- Enhanced graphics, lighting, HD effects, shaders, shadows, waters, animations -- enjoy the fantastic game atmosphere of The Awakened.

- Intuitive pathfinding

- And for those afraid of ghosts: Watson no longer teleports instantly behind you -- instead, he calmly follows Sherlock Holmes.

For those who didn't yet play The Awakened, a demo will be soon available. For those who already own it, we propose for you an updated version at a reduced price -- for more info please email us at SH3rem@frogwares.com

Wonderful. I can't wait to see how they improve New Orleans, particularly the chase, the swamp, and navigating to the island; and the lighthouse.

Thanks Becky for the update and thanks Frogwares for taking the effort to make this a third person perspective.

I don't buy first person perspective games for a variety of reasons but you can count on me buying this remastered version of The Awakened.

thanks

Finally a company that get's it. Not only do they make the best 3D adventures around, they understand that we don't like to repurchase our games (at full price) for patched or enhanced game play smile

I'm currently playing the game (original version). If I get this new revision will It recognize my saved games (I'm quite a ways into it)and are there going to be any changes to the game other than technical? If there aren't going to be additional puzzles and changed plot lines I doubt I'll spend the cash to get it.

Regards,

Barry

Barry -- I'm not sure if the saved games would work -- there are enough changes that they might not.

As far as I know, there aren't any additional puzzles or changed plot lines.

Thanks for the info Becky. I guess I'll stay with the original as I'm not having any problems and really enjoying it as is.

Barry

I'm not too big on downloading games . . . I think it's more fun to go to Target and buy them. Do you know if this will be available at stores, too? I'm happy for the changes, too. I did try playing the original and did get sick--I gave it away. Also, I actually preferred Secret of the Silver Earring, with its third-person perspective. The only first-person games I reguarly play are Nancy Drew, but I loved such games as Dracula: Origin and The Black Mirror because of the third-person viewpoint!

Hi janebirkin -- we don't have any news as of yet about the Remastered version being distributed to brick and mortar stores.
