Am at the part with the planet charts. Whenever I try to put Taurus under Aries, Aries gets moved. This is driving me crazy. I have referred to the walkthrough and just don't (duh) get it. Thanks again.

Rushes: Thanks, I looked at that one also. I just can't get my mind around this one. Aries keeps getting moved; I can't figure out how to keep in on top. The other part after that isn't clear to me either. I am not dumb, but this is driving me nuts. Could I possibly have a saved game? I sure hope there isn't more stuff like this in this game. I only have one other game left to play! Thanks.

I don't have any saves for this game, unfortunately. We'll have to wait for help. smile

It took me a while to get my head around this one too - I don't know whether this explanation will help: when you click on the arrow at the top you send all the symbols/planets up & around clockwise i.e. they all move up on the right move across & go down on the left as if moving round in a circle. Clicking on the arrow at the bottom swaps the positions of the symbol/planet in the centre slots between the two short arrows. So you need to swap Aries or Taurus when it gets to the centre position - the only trouble is it puts other things out but once you've grasped what's happening it's easier to work out! smile

EDIT A save's even better!

Am now at the part in the observatory - to match the planets. I referred to the walkthrough, but whenever I try to move Saturn, the entire circle shifts. Can't figure out what to do. If there is an easy explanation, I would appreciate it. If not (here we go again) a saved game would be great. Thanks!

Is this the solar return machine or the hanging solar system puzzle?

If the solar return - it might be your cursor is not pointed correctly.

MaG: It's the part using the medallion on the door. I've not gotten into the observatory yet. Thanks.

Each of those planets has a specific movement.

First move sun to its correct position which also moves the moon.
Then move the moon to its correct position.
Then move Saturn to its correct position.
Hear music and the door opens automatically. luck

I figured that part out. Now, I'm trying to make the medicine for the plague. When I try to add the ambergris I get the message that it is too precious to use unless you know what you are doing. What does that mean? The w/k says add to cooking pot. Thanks.

Be sure that you have the parchment - recipe for incense powder against plague and have placed it in the journal before making the recipe. Then read it. luck

MaG: I did that. I just can't find any written reference to ambergris, except at the end of the recipe where it states "use ambergris from inventory on cooking pot." As I said, when I try to do that I get her statement and can't do it. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Just double checked. The recipe is in the recipe section. I tried putting it in the notes section of the book, but wasn't allowed to.

Would somebody please help me with this? I even dumped the contents in the fireplace and started over. Does anyone have a saved game or an answer? HELP! Thanks.

Laurette,

From the WT,

Recipe for incense powder against plague: Go to the desk.

Read the 2 old quatrains on the book stand. It was about Henry II's death.

Take phial on top of the books by the window.

In inventory, use lens on phial. Use tongs to get the parchment - recipe for incense powder against plague and ambergris.

Place the parchment in the journal and read the ingredients.

Go back down and out through the back exit of the yard.

Walk up to the next block of houses. Look at the last door on the left.

Take orris from the window box and 2 aloes hanging on the doorway.

Go back to the workbench in Nostradamus' office.

Use mortar and pestle on each of these herbs: cypress wood taken beside the gallows, orris and aloe.

Use spoon to place each of them in the cooking pot.

Use spoon on clove and place in cooking pot. Use pipette on rose petal juice and musk and place them in cooking pot.

Use ambergris from inventory on cooking pot.

Open the stove vent. It must be ready.

Use the recipients of all sorts on the cooking pot to get Preparation against the plague.

Have you done all of the above? wave

I also had the same reply about taking care with the ambergris and mandrake berries. I left the stuff brewing in the pot minus the berries and ambergris, wandered upstairs and in the backyard, went back and the ambergris and berries went in with no further problems. Best of luck wave

TLC: Thank you for taking the time to post all that information; however, I had that from the walkthrough and it didn't work. Upsydaisy: Thank you - I'll try that. In the meantime, I just gave "one of the remedies" to the blacksmith - garlic and vinegar and it worked. Don't know if I'll need the other later, but will try. thank you both.

Well, I went away, did other things, came back and tried to use the ambergris. Still didn't work - got same message. I also now have two portions of the stuff; one for the aprodasiac (sp?). I plan on continuing until I can't progress further and then will ask for more help. This is too weird!

I had no trouble with the aprodasiac formula. However, if someone could send me a save game for the "Solar Return Machine," I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. Still can't do the plague formula!
