I can't wait to see what others think of this game. Pre-ordered from Dave at Interact and got mine yesterday. I just played a couple of hours and have to say I'm laughing out loud at some of the more adult humor!

It's spring. My life is weeds.

I really enjoyed this game - I thought there was some wonderful voice acting in it & some of the humor had me laughing out loud!
The only downer is that you will have to wait for a sequel to finish the story as it does finish halfway through! smile

No, it has been revealed today (by Bill Tiller himself) that there will be at least 4!

Thanks for the link Ascovel. That was an interesting read. I hope they pop off the parts a lot faster than when we were waiting for the first part. It's gonna get very expensive for this complete game unless they drop the price.

A very good read...Thanks, Ascovel

I also agree that less dialogue is good...In the beginning I was a tad frustrated ..Thought maybe dialogue would run rampant...

But I was happy to find you can skip it by pressing the space-bar.. grin

I really enjoyed this game as far as it went & was glad of the 'gossip' beforehand to alert me to the fact that it wasn't the complete game! It was a bit naughty, I thought, to mislead buyers of the game by not making it clear that it was only part of a game & not either advertising it or labelling it as such! Being released as 'Vampyre Story Part 1' would have been a lot more honest & respectful to the AG community.

EDIT: While typing my elbow hit on part of the keyboard & did somthing weird so there seems to be a lot of blank spcae at the end of my post! Hope you can sort it out! lol

I just saw something in this game that I missed before. In the lab when you get a close up of the river of snot, that there is actually real people's faces in it. The developers maybe ? I think this may be an easter egg of sorts.

Chrissie -- I just noticed your giant blankness! lol I'll see what I can do. Then again, it IS unique. I'm sort of hoping that I fail.

Failure. Maybe I should try hitting the keyboard with MY elbow? grin

I suspect it is the entrance to a black hole. Or perhaps a portal into an alternate dimension. It chose GameBoomers as the place it would first appear.

lol Sorry....I delete those all the time in Mixed Bags. It happens alot.

But of course, the real truth is, I had to unleash Jezabelle and let her loose with her sword wielding expertise and fight the black hole ogres that were threatening to take over the forum. I didn't want to alarm any members. yes

Yup...that's my story and I'm sticking with it.

Ana grin

Thanks Ana!, using the delete button worked for me when I edited the 'black hole 'out but reappeared back again when I pressed 'change post'!? And I thought that the only black hole that existed was in my handbag! lol

I absolutely adored A Vampyre Story. It had everything I want to in a game and as soon as I decide to update my Top 50, it will be the first commercial game in more than 10 years that enters my 20 favorite titles of all time (#16). If it weren't for the beaker puzzle and the bugs and if I agreed with having grades in reviews, I'd say it was an A+ game (I'd still give it an A).

The cartoon graphics were very beautiful, the music & sound engineering very appropriate for the theme (my favorite score was the one used in the credits), the interface was perfect, the puzzles inventory based and of adequate difficulty (something I'm missing in most recent games), the voice acting of most characters was good and the humor... I haven't laughed out loud so many times since Discworld Noir!

In a modern world where many adventure game developers don't even bother to provide gamers with an Examine icon, A Vampyre Story not only lets you examine, use, talk to or "fly to" hundreds of hotspots, the variety of the responses is amazing! The reason it took me so long to finish it was because I wanted to hear them all, so I made sure to use all icons (and Froderick!) on all hotspots upon entering a screen, leaving the actions that could potentially solve a puzzle last. No "this doesn't work" comebacks; even ridiculous actions such as "Talk to oven" has hilarious responses. By the way, that wasn't a random example. Remember to talk to the oven in the kitchen! And try to take a baton! Basically, try anything! Come on, this game has

"Santa was here" graffiti on the inside of chimney and a tombstone with a "Here I sit, broken hearted..." inscription!

It's priceless!

Froderick adds so much to the game, he's very reminiscent of Arthur of the Journeyman Project series. He completes Mona beautifully as he is smart and has "been around", while she is somewhat naive and ignorant in many ways. I love the way they continuously tease each other. I fell in love with Mona, she's the most feminine character I've ever seen in a game, the way she moves is so elegant. I simply melt when she walks, looks at her nails, claps... And when she
Click to reveal..
bites
I want to take a razor and slice myself to pieces until I have only two dimensions so that I enter her world and become her eternal mortal servant, tuck her into her coffin and all.

The puzzles were a pleasant surprise for me, some of them gave me much trouble. I got stuck for a long time in the castle because I didn't think about
Click to reveal..
using the nuts in the nut cracking device to get a lubricant
and even more time in the village because
Click to reveal..
it didn't occur to me to use the blanket to warm up the bucket
But both of these puzzles made sense in the AVS world so I blame myself. I *LOVED*
Click to reveal..
getting rid of the gargoyle by curing Edgar Raven's constipation, scumming the ghost into believing the sun was up and fooling the constable by dressing Froderick up as a little girl!
Most of the puzzles were funny or smart or both and apart from the beakers none of them felt out of place.

I'm so happy I finally found a game I loved after so many years. Can't wait for AVS2!
