Art of Murder: Hunt For The Puppeteer game turns out to be an expensive game. I could not find it anywhere so I decide to place an order from Interact. Bad mistake mad as you will soon see.

Art of Murder game US$20 (I know it's $19.95)
Shipping US$5
Total US$25

Conversion C$30
Customs Duties C$10
Total cost C$40

Buying online may not be such a great idea afterall, this $20 game costs $40 now mad One week later, I went to the local Walmart and see this game on the shelf. Price $19.98. shocked And I paid $40 for it mad

This is the most expensive game I ever owned pacify

Thanks for listening wave

I'm sorry you feel somehow that InteractCD is responsible, but they charged you the correct price of 19.95 and a very reasonable shipping charge. They certainly cannot be held responsible for currency conversion rates or duties that your country charges. They help many people get games that would not otherwise be able to get them.

Your subject heading is quite misleading.

$40 is the most expensive game you ever bought? Guess no SNES games then?

"It costs $40 to buy Art of Murder from Interact"

Mods .... As Dave at Interact certainly doesn't charge $40 for the game - which is what this statement implies - why isn't it being edited ???

headscratch

I edited the title. Thanks, Mad.

The game can be bought from anywhere in the US and it might cost the same for the Canadian buyer.

We need for other Canadians to give their experiences also.

It is not the US or the Customs or the seller's fault that roll bought the game from out of his country. It was his choice.

I am glad that this was cleared. I ordered a game from the UK and it was more expensive but I knew that was due to conversion and shipping costs. I did not blame the online retail site.

I often order from Dave. I always take the shipping at 3$, which is quite Ok. So that comes to 23$ with a game at 20$. If I add the 20% (as it is now) for the difference in American and Canadian money, it is 4.60$

So the total is 27.60$ if my maths are Ok.

I never pay Custom Duties. So, some provinces ask to pay the Custom and some do not???? duh

Hi Chief
Unless the person shipping will ship the package as a gift there will be major taxes added on at the border. For us Canadians at the rate eveything is now...that will be an expensive purchase.
I know you are from Canada but things may be different in Quebec.

Chief, you don't want the box? Without the box, it is like reading a book without the cover smile

Hi, roll!

I don't know what province you live in, but I've been ordering games from Dave at InteractCD for years if I couldn't find them here in Canada and have never paid duty or taxes on any of them.

There was a time last Summer when our dollar was either at par with, or worth more than, the US dollar, so I paid about the same price in Canadian dollars as InteractCD was charging in US dollars. Unfortunately, our dollar is now hovering around the 80 cent mark, so the games end up being more expensive if purchased from a US website because, in addition to the currency exchange, the credit card companies impose a 2.5% conversion charge.

Dave provides excellent service and reasonable shipping rates, but has no control over the value of the Canadian dollar or any duties and/or taxes charged at Customs.

Susan

Games for us UK-ers are always expensive and sometimes it is actually more economical for me to buy a game from Dave at Interact AND pay the $10 shipping for "with box" than it is to buy a game released in the UK duh

I'm in Canada too and accept that there are conversion rates and shipping costs if ordering from the U.S. I often buy games from Amazon if I can bundle orders of over $40 if they can be applied to Super Shipper Savings (free shipping). Also, The Adventure Company sometimes has periods when free shipping is offered on orders exceeding a certain amount. There is also the option of downloading some games if shipping prices are a concern. But I'm also grateful there are options like Interact offering a good variety of games at reasonable prices.
