Personally, it would be a real pleasure to see a thread that is not sidetracked with the DRM issue. If you have a problem with it please address your concerns with the website you have issues with. I think the point has been made here ad nauseum.

Is it ok to ask if the game will come out without drm? That is what I asked.
People likely keep bringing it up because it literally is killing their ability to enjoy the genre.

Not to sidetrack the discussion, but to clarify a bit:
The developer might know if and when the game comes out without drm. The publisher is usually the one deciding whether or not drm will be used, and if so, what drm will be used.
On a more general note, many adventure games may only be released through download since some adventure game publishers are no more.
People buy games from Steam alle the time.... (and as a side note Culpa Innata is now half price at Steam...)
I'm happy that I can buy Culpa Innata and Yoomurjak's Ring via download through sites like Steam or The Adventure Shop.

Just a couple of questions - - Does the game require server activation? This severely limits the ability to re-play the game down the road (and may make it impossible if the servers are taken down – which happens).
- Is there a limitation on the number of activations on the same physical PC? I was recently affected by this limitation for another game and was quite surprised to learn that 3 activations was the limit (and 5 was the maximum - ever).
In as much as many of us enjoy re-playing games (and can't keep them installed forever) I'd be curious to know. If it comes down to Activation versus DRM (considering that the price is the same for a Boxed copy) - I'll pick DRM every time.

Hi InlandAZ, as far as I could tell you don't need to be online to activate - you get a code when you order the game. I downloaded the files & then installed the game. On launching the game you have to enter a code - I copied & pasted my code to be able to continue & that was all. In the E-mail that came with the download files it states that you can download it up to 6 times. It also states that you can backup the game on CD or DVD -I'm guessing that to reinstall you may only need the code that you were given but I don't know for sure? There didn't seem to be anything 'intrusive'. Except..... ....TAC recommended a download manager which seemed to 'play havoc' with the way I like to do things on my PC. So I uninstalled it & had to go back to a recent restore point to get back to normal! I successfully downloaded the game without it! The demo that came out some time ago wouldn't play on my system but I gave in & bought & downloaded the game anyway! It started off, as the demo did, "cannot display in this video mode" but I've found that an adjustment of refresh rate in the configuration file has done the trick. But I do wish I had waited - I've been playing the game for an hour & I am so bored! I want to play a game not 'go on holiday' - does this game get better?

InlandAZ, like chrissie I wasn't aware of any activation taking place, but the information on The Adventure Shop "How it Works" page here does mention online activation. It also states that you can uninstall and reinstall the game an unlimited number of times on the same PC. Chrissie -- I found that without the download manager, the game was downloading at about 135kb/s, while with the download manager, it was downloading much, much faster. I'm now a big believer in the download manager. I don't THINK it's affected my PC at all. After exploring the town you do encounter some serious puzzle challenges. I like the exploration part, so I guess I do play games to go on holiday. There are a couple of threads going in the Hints section right now where people are helping each other with the puzzles.

It also states that you can uninstall and reinstall the game an unlimited number of times on the same PC. Aha - thanks Becky! I won't mention the name of the other game, but I was a bit disappointed when I learned that I was limited to 3 activations on the same physical hardware (I reformat frequently). An email took care of the immediate problem, but they did state that 5 was an absolute limit. Imagine not being able to play the classics (because you'd already played them once or twice)

Personally, I feel that if you can download a game & back it up to disc you shouldn't need any more than the code you were given in the first place to activate the game, if after uninstallation you should install it in the future. That's the impression I got from this game. If my impression is wrong then I feel I have been mislead. I paid nearly £30.00 (UK) for this game & that is very expensive- it is equivalent to a store price & far more than I usually pay for UK priced boxed copies ordered online. Although I've bought a few Indies directly from developers by download, YR is the first one I've bought from TAS. I've no complaints, as once I decided not to use the download manager, it downloaded, installed & so far plays like a dream. But, I really don't want to download games - I want them on disc! Copy protection issues have nothing to do with it - I just don't want to mess around downloading them!

Errmmmm... TAC is The Adventure Company (Dreamcatcher), not The Adventure Shop. I don't think they're related. I guess The Adventure Shop would be TAS. But thanks for the information on not having to use the download manager, Chrissie. I'd rather not mess with another download manager. I already have the one for Big Fish. It also states that you can uninstall and reinstall the game an unlimited number of times on the same PC. That assumes you haven't had to change your hard drive. Where else would the game store the information that it's been activated for that computer if not on the hard drive? Also, if you have to reformat before reinstalling Windows, I'm unsure if the activation information will be retained. Adventure Shop doesn't go into detail on how it's stored.

Hello! It's great to see how many people are playing the game and getting on quite well! A quick news: The developer’s „Official Strategy Guide” is now available on the Yoomurjak homepage: http://www.yoomurjak.com/walkthruIt's not intended to be a detailed walkthrough with precise solutions – only a list of small hints that may help you think how to get forward. Hope it will be useful. We'll be back... the PMS/AGON Team

Betty Lou,
It might be the only way the game can be enjoyed by the gamers. Some box publishers are not around anymore. Mad, as MaG stated here, it may be the only way to get these games at this time. Ana
