Quote:
With the release of Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper just around the corner, Frogwares Studio and Focus Home Interactive are pleased to offer a brand new video of this upcoming adventure title. In this new trailer, we see Sherlock Holmes and his faithful friend Dr. Watson investigating the dark alleys of the Whitechapel district where the horrifying serial killer known as "Jack the Ripper" has just committed his first murders ... and seems about to renew his horrific crimes.

Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper allows you to play as the greatest detective of all in the London of 1888. A series of particularly horrible murders creates a real psychosis throughout the country. Atrociously mutilated prostitutes' bodies are found by the police without them being able to find a serious lead. Sherlock Holmes starts looking for clues in the dark and sinister alleys of Whitechapel in order to follow the macabre trail of the one the press now calls Jack the Ripper. During an adventure full of twists, Sherlock Holmes will try to bring out the true identity and the motives of the one who hides behind this scary alias.

The Sherlock Holmes series is known as one of the best franchises in adventure games and is very popular with around 1.5 million copies sold worldwide. Now, Sherlock Holmes is back with a game that will give a new dimension to the series. Indeed, Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper will offer players two different views that are accessible at any time: a third person view in the purest style used in point & click adventure games, as well as a first person view. The player will be free to play in one or the other modes or even combine them for greater immersion into this terrifying adventure. Another novelty: the player will also find an original crime scene reconstitution system that will allow him to test his theories during his progress in the investigation to follow the bloody trail of the terrifying serial killer.

Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper will be released for DVD ROM PC in May of 2009 and at the end of the year on Xbox360.

At last a good murder mystery to solve with Sherlock. I am really looking forward to this game. I love it when Sherlock catches the bad guys. Too bad this mystery was never solved in real life. Just call me a frustrated detective wanna be. yes

Just finished the demo, pretty good atmosphere, and some minor rendering bugs.

I wonder if there are many instances of graphic bloodletting throughout? I don't mind witnessing a game-crime in the shadows & fog & at a little distance. But I don't care to see it 'up-close-and-personal'... and well-lit. Don't need it (bloodletting) to feel the fear. 'Fear' is already woven into that story.

On the plus side are: The option to play in 1stgrinperson; & the feature for re-creating crime scenes! bravo

Carrie, the graphics in the crime scenes are very tastefully done. I would not consider it gory. It obviously is of a delicate topic because it is following the story of Jack of The Ripper, but it was handled in a way that I think will be acceptable to most except those that are squeemish about the whole premise of Jack the Ripper.

That's good to know Ana. It was the close-up graphic of the blade (and that metallic sound) that got to me... real attention-grabbers --not unlike crime novel covers and movie trailers. smile Thanks... I'm better now pacify.

Jeux Video (French gaming site) gave a good rating to the game, finding it "more pleasant, more flexible...extremely convincing," particularly comparing it to Lupin. I'm really looking forward to this one. Does anyone know the latest English-speaking release date?...

Gruffy asked for the UK release date, not the US. InteractCD is selling the US version which is May.
