I see that IWIN has a club similar to BFG. How interesting. It may benefit any of you that needs a game that BFG doesn't carry.
Me? I'll stick with BFG, I trust them.

How does it work?
When you join Club iWin, you automatically get 1,000 iCoins ($6.99 cost) deposited in your account every month. There are over 800 games at iwin.com that cost 1,000 iCoins or less. Remember, if you want more than 1 game a month, you can buy as many games as you want for the same low prices.
Unlike other game clubs, Club iWin has everyday low prices with no commitment. Want a game? Join today, get your game for $6.99 or less and cancel any time you like.
Member Benefits
Over 800 games for $6.99 each or less

Make an informed decision before you join and read This.

Specifically
Quote:
Also, iWin.com may share Members’ personally identifiable information (except for credit card information and social security number) with its partners, sponsors, advertisers, service providers and marketers, lookup and reference services and any other entities that iWin.com believes are able to provide Members with special offers and opportunities. Note that although iWin.com advises everyone who receives Member personally identifiable information from iWin.com to support this Policy, iWin.com has no control over such party’s information handling practices and is not responsible for any failure of such party to adhere to this Policy.

As provided in the User Agreement, Members are required to provide their personally identifiable information to iWin.com as a condition of Membership, and to understand and agree that iWin.com may share their personally identifiable information with unaffiliated third parties. If users do not provide the required personally identifiable information or do not agree that iWin.com may share their personally identifiable information with such entities, then they may not register as a Member, and if they are already a Member, they must immediately terminate their account.

Additionally, iWin.com may share Member personally identifiable information in aggregate, non-personal form, with select companies that wish to reach a particular Member target audience (e.g., registered male Members between the ages of 45-55, who have an average household income of over $30,000.00). This information will allow these entities to provide relevant offers to specific Members.
Among many other things.

I myself will not download from them. I stick with BigFish and SpinTop for the ones that BF does not get.

Ana- grin

I am so glad that you added this, I was told many years ago to stay away from them and they gave me the same reasons. I have stayed away and hope what you wrote helps many others.

Thanks

Thanks Maggie, I am very fussy on what's on my computer and I only post those sites that I myself would download from. We have numerous threads here on the same thing and all I want is for folks to make an informed decision. Too many don't read EULA's and Privacy Notices on their own. Cheap or free games doesn't mean much if you get tons of spam mail, pop ups, spyware etc bogging down your computer.

Maybe it is just me, but iWin scared me once back in January. I installed a game I bought from Amazon, Mysteryville, and found that I didn't like it so decided to quit without bothering to finish it. Then something weird happened, when I tried to quit, suddenly my screen was flooded with iWin stuff to buy this or that and completely confused me. I was afraid I would buy a game without meaning to if I clicked wrong. I finally managed to *escape* but I was so upset, I made a special note of it in my game log book: *iWin - DO NOT BUY (Almost took over!) ... and that is enough warning for me to steer clear of anything with the iWin label.

I agree, but isn't it dumb for a company to sneak that stuff on customers? Look how successful Big Fish is? Why do these companies think they can make more money by doing these distrustful things? It's almost like they think we are stupid.

Honesty is the best policy rules once again. I'm glad there are still a few good companies out there. I sure wish there were more. Big Fish Games is a good example of a company that is honest, trustworthy and successful beyond compare.

Maybe more companies will follow suit. I hope so.

I purchased one game from IWin a while ago. I think it was because Mortimer Beckett was on sale there...and I got it for less than $10. I had not experienced any problems with additional content on my computer, or anything. However, I have also not been back to the website to purchase anything more. I dislike that you only can reactivate a game 5 times. So when my computer crashed, I had to redownload and reactivate...and woe betide me if I lose that activation code. BigFish is simply the easiest most customer friendly websites to use. Why go elsewhere if you don't have to?

MYLady, in defense of Iwin, they are not doing anything dishonest, the privacy policy is in plain view. They do what the majority of websites do unfortunately. You'll find the same thing on clothing or shopping sites also. Best thing to do is read every website before you buy, your computer will thank you in the long run.

Ana... does every site post this type of info? If so, where can I find it on shopping sites, etc.?

It might not be dishonest, per se, but sneaky and deceptive if you ask me.

For instance if you shop at SEars, Click here and go to the bottom of the page and you will see a privacy policy on the bottom. Click on it.

I bought Pirateville, an IWIN game, from Target, played it and uninstalled 3 months ago. I'm still getting pop-ups from IWIN that come up while I'm playing my other games and interrupt my game. I don't know how to get rid of it. I'll never buy any that has their name on it.

Kim, run and download these 3 programs and your computer will be all better:

CCleaner ( run registry cleaner part and cookie cleaner, leave settings as they are defaulted)
Adaware
Malwarebytes

They are all free and can be accessed through Download.com

Yes, many sites do this type of marketing. Did you ever wonder how your snail mail gets loaded with catalogs from companies you never did business with? Or how about charity solicitations from institutions likewise. Those are even more insidious because whichever company or charity you DID use never had the class to inform you of what they do with your information. My mailman is a dear man .. love him to death and around holiday time hes burdened with dragging a bagful of catalogs to me. Now at least on our computers we can use a program such as BrownEyed Tiger suggested which deletes the pests for all eternity. I wish I could do the same thing for my mailman, Mike.

Hi, exalthim2,
Oh my, your experience with iWin is even worse than mine! I have never gotten any pop-ups or anything else from them once I uninstalled everything.
What really got to me is that the game I bought was on a disk, it was not a download, so I was totally unprepared for all that extra stuff that showed up. I'm always somewhat leery with downloads so it wouldn't have been such a shock in that case.

Hi Ana
I've run all 3 of those and it still comes probably twice a week. If I'm in the middle of a game, the game shuts off and the IWIN screen comes up. very frustrating.

Well that stinks! Maybe Glitches can come up with another solution. Those 3 usually do the trick for me.

for what it's worth, I don't care for the software that iWin puts onto my computer.

Like BET, I stick with BFG and SpinTop.

BUT, for those who do like iWin, I think it is awesome that they came down in price for members! 'bout time!

I'll stick with Big Fish and SpinTop.
And thanks for the warning that even boxed versions from iWin can have malware.

I have never been able to download a game from IWin and I guess it's just as well. The only thing I ever get from them is Email to play their games. I finally removed their website from my computer without giving them any information. Haven't heard much from them since.
