I am replaying Fallout 3 and am stuck in Little Lamplight. I need to get to Vault 87 and I know there are two ways through this children's village: The easy way is supposed to be through a door which an average computer terminal controls. I should be able to hack this but I keep getting a message that it is not powered up. There is a kid called Joseph who is supposed to help me with this but he doesn't offer a conversation option to power it up for me. He just tells me that the only way to the vault is through Murder Pass. When I go to the Murder Pass gate (the option I would prefer anyway) The lever that I try to pull says that I cannot use this at this time. I understand that the snot nosed McCready has to give me permission to leave this way. When I ask him for directions to the vault he says he's not my tour guide. My charisma is 6+ and can't level up any more. Does anyone know how I can progress further as this is part of the main quest and I'm at a loss what to do next.

I've found that there is a very specific dialogue path when talking to McCready. You don't ask him to show you Murder Pass, you need to find the dialogue tree where you eventually tell him that's where you want to go and he'll set off running for the gate. Then he and Princess will open it for you.

I must admit that after MCReady's initial snottinesss I had no problems with the kids, and even traded mushrooms with the little healer girl. I do remember I wanted to smack Princess's face for her. Unfortunately I can't remember how I got out of there. Actually, just yesterday I bought the disc version of The Pitt and Operation Anchorage, so I might just fire FO3 up later today. If I do, I'll try to go back to a Little Lamplight save and see what I did there. EDIT: I've now decided I'm going to wait till I get Broken Steel, so I can go on after the MQ ending; since apparently it is broken Steel, that makes the ending an un-ending. I was so hoping it was one of the two add-ons I had already bought.. Anyway, I do hope that Trail-mystic's post has helped you, and that you are out of there by now, Rowan.

Ah, yes, why don't you just use a cheat to unlock the door? Hopefully that might be the easiest... I remember that Morrowind also had cheats where you could mark off a quest as "done"; as if you actually did complete that quest, even if you hadn't. So if you could find a cheat like that, so that the game thinks that you have won the kids over to your side, that might also be a plan.
Anyway, I'm about to purchase Broken Steel. As soon as I have it, I'll play it and the other two add-ons. Mothership Zeta also looks pretty cool. I'll definitely get it as well, but a bit later, I think.

I believe you need to arrive at Pennsylvania Av. to get to the White House. For Takoma Industries you need to arrive at Takoma Park. This may help for both: Fall-Out 3 Subway Map

Thanks, Trail. That map helped a lot. I was able to find the 2 Takoma places and now just need to explore there. I'll try to find the White House later. I need help again. I finally found a utility tunnel from Pennsylvania Ave which "discovers" the White House. However, when I emerge from the other end of the tunnel I'm in a radiated pit. I can't climb out of the pit. I can't jump that high and there don't seem to be any structures that would help me get out. If I now click on the newly discovered White House location on the map I just end up back in this pit. I'm going in circles and glowing. Does anyone remember this?

Have you tried any of the alternative routes to Penn. Ave? I don't recall hitting that issue... If I remember right, there is a Seward Square access behind the capitol building (er...I think). It's not the safest place if you haven't hit that particular part of the quest line yet, that battles get pretty hot around there.

That is all that is left of the White House, a radiated pit. Rather disappointing. The Capitol building is still standing. Thanks Pokey!

Is this game any good with a good replay value? Since I'm playing on investing in a new game. And since I refuse to buy Hearts of Iron III, this game looked more interesting.

Is this game any good with a good replay value? Since I'm playing on investing in a new game. And since I refuse to buy Hearts of Iron III, this game looked more interesting. The following is just my 1.5 cents... It depends on what you expect out of a game. There are multiple outcomes to the main quest and some of the side quests can be influenced by your actions as well. The character development is a bit simplistic in that you don't have true character classes; rather your character is defined by the abilities you can choose as you advance in level. So you can change up your characters skills, but in the end they're still just a post-apocalyptic guy or gal with some enhancements. Dialogue options do change dependent on your alignment and can open new quest paths, but unlike the D&D style games alignment isn't as clearly defined. Neutrality isn't really maintained through true neutral decision making although the usual stand-offish attitude does add to it a bit. You can balance your alignment by doing a certain number of "Good" and a certain number of "Bad" actions. The way you track your alignment is also a little odd if you're used to D&D style gaming. Even though they break down the scale with specific names, it's more like saying you're "Really, really good" or "Really Good" or "Good" or "Neutral" or "Bad" or "Really bad" or...well you see where I'm going.... So yes, it does have replayability, but not as much as a game that might have more character options. It is worth the play though, that's a definite.

This sounds really interesting. The character development is a bit simplistic in that you don't have true character classes; rather your character is defined by the abilities you can choose as you advance in level. So you can change up your characters skills. This part reminds me of the Classic Heroes of Might and Magic games (3DO) Dialogue options do change dependent on your alignment and can open new quest paths, but unlike the D&D style games alignment isn't as clearly defined. Looks and sounds interesting So yes, it does have replayability, but not as much as a game that might have more character options. It is worth the play though, that's a definite. Well, it sounds like I would get more for my money then I would if I would buy Hearts of Iron III or Project Origin.
