Throughout the game is it preferable to exhaust all topics of conversation, or to try to lead the line of questioning? The reason I am asking is that I am at the point where I need to give the book to James, but I feel somewhat hesitant to part with the pictures just yet. Is there a way around this or does the game force me to give James the photos?

ikonius,

As a rule, I always exhaust the dialogue. I learned that clues can be hidden there. Nancy Drew games are an exception - it always ends the same way.

... with an entertaining parrot smile

EDIT: Another problem: I can't get the curtain rope, even by clicking directly on the hot spot (I keep getting the "short rope, long fall" response. HELP!

EDIT2: Sovled it this morning. Realised I hadn't pulled the ladder far enough left! D'oh!

In a few places Sylvie states she may have long legs , but I guess she also has short arms. See? All is balance in the end....

I am a little confused with the tiles for the fireplace puzzle. I push the buttons the way it says in the walkthrough but nothing happens. When I get to the last tile to push, it resets the rest of them. Sometimes I have difficulty understanding what I am reading, is that the case here maybe? Ive been trying for half a day so any help is very much appreciated. happydance

Hi .Zoe.,

MaG posted in an old thread:

Be sure that you cleaned the tiles on the floor of the fireplace also. That is your clue.
Then clean that middle tile on the mantel.
Then even if she said that - continue on and:
From left to right, press the mantel tiles in positions: 7 4 9 6 2 5.

luck and let us know if you still have problems.
