Sam, Dadguy is the greatest! He was so helpful and patient with me when I played this game! I had to send him a saved game many times and he always came to my rescue.
Thank you Dadguy you are greatly appreciated! :thumbsUp12:

Thanks for that information Dadguy. If and when I get Windows 7 I will want to play Myst IV on it too! You're the greatest!

Hey Sam! For some reason the mangree puzzle where you have to chime the three tones always has difficulty. Even when I do it in my steadfast, orderly way, the mangrees don't always react. My solution has always been to try and try again. There is disagreement on what the best distinction is between a long tone and a short tone. Some say a 1/4 turn for short and a 3/4 turn for long.... but if you turn 3/4s very fast, the game doesn't see it that way. So, I have always used a brief "bleep" 1/4 turn for SHORT and a long "rotate it three times" for LONG to get the best results. Try it here and later in the more difficult "put the Camoudile to sleep" puzzle for best results. If you get frustrated, please feel welcome to email me the save and I'll be happy to solve and return. In case we didn't make it clear, the reason we go through this email save and return them exercise is because the saves contain in them YOUR specific game progress, so we want to make sure you get the save back with the game progress intact. Cheers, Dadguy PS: The reason I can't help with URU is because we can't easily share save files with that game. So, the best I can do is consult and suggest.

That is the best place to make the save (right before the L-short, R-long tones).
The far left Mangree will throw a berry at the Camoudile right after the three tone final combo, but if you are a little slow with it, he manages to crawl out just as the berry is being thrown. No other Mangree will do anything when you play the three tone combo, so don't expect Mangree #2 to do anything.
So, reload the save and try again. It may take several tries. Play the two tone signal then immediately start the three tones. If you got him to throw the berry once, you are very close.
Let us know if you get it!
Cheers,
Dadguy

Dadguy, I thought I was getting close when the #1 Mangree threw something. BTW, before I understood that I had to reload and could not just start the wheels again, the program gave me a CLOSE UP of the Mangree reaching down for a piece of fruit to throw. What was that all about? Just wondering. Merry Christmas to all. :holidays:
Sincerely, Sam

Naw... this one has given folks problems as well. Take a look at my little tutorial on the issues and read carefully... the details are critical to solving: OK, here is a summary of the some of the mistakes that are made on the snake puzzle:
- It is the bottom right stripe that you must stroke
- The hand icon doesn't change when you touch the stripe.... the fingers stay the same. I had success with the fingertips touching the stripe when stroking.
- Dragging too slow or too fast will fail... be steady and calm.
- slipping off the end too far... the puzzle is fairly forgiving... you can slip off a tad, but it works best of you stop right before the end when you stroke the stripe.
- DETAILED DESCRIPTION: Click and hold down the left-mouse button on the RIGHT side of the stripe to DRAG to the LEFT across the stripe, then release the mouse button at the left end. Then do it again three more times..
- Remember, stroke RIGHT to LEFT...
- When the snake uncoils, quickly LEFT-click his head. You have about three seconds to do this.
It works first time, every time for me. Good luck and let us know if you get it!And, again, please don't hesitate to email me a save if I can eliminate any frustration. I am happy to help. Merry Christmas! Dadguy
