Note that this game requires a video card capable of Shader 3.0 and with 256 MB of video RAM.
Most game sites I checked interpret this as a minimum of NVIDIA GeForce 7 series or ATI Radeon X1600 video card.

***Here*** <-- is an official bug list for version 1.00 that I found on the Darkness Within 2 forum. It gives workarounds. I don't know if the disc version at Gogamer is version 1.00 or not.

I just went to the gogamer site and the game is listed as "out of stock."

I don't think I've seen them go out of stock that fast before.

So does this mean the game will not play with my Radeon X800SE, which I believe is only a 2.1 shader?

And do we know if the version Dave is selling is 1.00?

No we don't. Not yet anyway. But if it is version 1.0, it's good to know the workarounds.

That's strange that it is listed as "out of stock" - I just ordered it from them about 2 minutes ago and there was no such comment - yet - they may tell me that on my email confirmation of my order which by the way I have an order number for. If you want it you should try to "preorder" it again before the clock runs out and see what happens. Good luck

GoGamer is now showing it as shipping on June 7, so you can still get the game from them at the reduced price. I think the 48 hours has expanded as the count down is showing 85 hours and change.

Darkness Within 2 is now listed as a pre-order at ***Gogamer*** -- still at their sale price. They do have a button to allow you to pre-order it, which I didn't see there yesterday.

It is not listed as out of stock at ***InteractCD***, so if you want it fast, you could get it at Interact.

I just came from GoGamer and placed my order so I guess maybe they have expanded the hours.

Went to see about demo download. Showed it would take about 13 hours with my dial up, so not doing that.

Are you going to get/try this game? I know you have the same card.

Sounds like a lot of people are disappointed with it but I'd still like to get it even if I have to wait until that "someday" when I'll be able to play it, although the specs don't mention Windows 7 which is what I will eventually end up with, so........??

Guess I better think about it some more.

I pre-ordered it because of the price, but I'm planning to build a new computer soon which will have a video card that will run the game. So sometime in the next month or two I should be able to play it. I don't expect to see a better price than the Gogamer price within the next 2 months.

I doubt it would work with my old Radeon X800SE card because that card can't do Shader 3.


The system requirements ***here*** mention Windows 7 (which they abbreviate to "7"), though they don't list it under the minimum requirements.

The wikipedia page for the game also says it works with Windows 7

Okay, I didn't see Win 7 on the Iceberg site but may have missed it. I'll have to keep this vgrequirements site in mind for future reference. Had never heard of it.

I'm playing the game now on Win 7 with no problems (after installing the latest NVIDIA PhysX drivers).
