I saw that this morning, I don't agree one bit. I think we became spoiled with a spell of excellent games that took ages to develop but came out close together and we began to demand them daily without ever thinking what it takes to make a game. There is no way any developer can keep up that demand and the days that there is no "major earthshaking release" are filled in with adequate games that we find under par just because they are "average".

I think patience and acceptance are needed along with a bit of knowledge of what it takes to make a game.

I have to agree that I have become spoiled recently. I found myself asking why I wasn't as impressed as I expected to be in the last couple of weeks, then I looked at the number of games I had purchased in the previous month.......I had been acting like a teen-ager and wanted bigger and better all the time. Not possible and not good either. We all enjoy the gigantic productions but shouldn't expect them all the time. I am as guilty as any in that taking for granted.

Several of the really good games had flaws in them and had to be updated. That tells me the demand to hurry hurry is put onto the developers to get them out faster than they should. I would rather they take their time and put out a product that doesn't have the dissappointing glitches.

Now that I have made myself unpopular again I will retreat to the corner.....

*snuggles into the corner with Ana and Cherie*

There is a tendency to want it all all the time, and I do think we're feeling the "rush push" from developers. I think we're also seeing a lot of "collector" games that aren't actually worth the extra expenditure because developers do feel pressured to make: "better, longer, wonderful---more,more, more!" and that does take a much larger budget.

I'm luckier than some players since I like a number of different game genres and so my choices are wider. (Right now, I'm having a wonderful time with a little RPG gem of humor, adventure, and puzzles called "Lily and Sasha"--which is from John Wizard.)

But, if you only like the glamorous IHOGs, less is not as appealing, and despite the writer's position that games are now too cheap, a LOT of folks won't/can't buy at higher prices.

Seems to me that we just need more appreciation and enjoyment of reasonably priced adequate/acceptable, yes, entertaining in their own ways, offerings.

I am in the corner too, but have to say that because of the article, when I tried the demo for Golden Trails - The New Ranch Rush, I ended up buying it from the developer for $9.99 instead of waiting for it to get to BFG. lol So I guess the article did work for me anyway. wink

Just wanted to pop in to say thanks for the level headed discussion here! People sometimes get so emotional that they start arguing just for the sake of arguing. smile

BTW, the amount of sales that a developer gets directly is extremely small compared to what a site like BFG does, so as long as you like the developer, that is a good way to get your games as it helps the developers out and does not realy hurt BFG, especially in the long run if they make better games!!

I think Gameboomers are fabulous! I have posted personal views on games before and rather than the response being totally abusive because somebody doesn't agree, my opinion has been treated with respect and the discussion has never sunk to the levels that a lot of forums do. I like us! so thanks BFG. I like you too! We are the bees knees! I have muttered recently that I haven't felt like buying what's on offer, but have always realized that the more excellent games we get, the more we want.

I will agree with the majority, we are spoiled into thinking we are owed top notch games on a daily basis.

When I see how much work must have gone into a game whether I like it or not, it's amazing that we can actualy get something like this for a mere $6.99 or even $9.99.

I am just starting early retirement so I now have to be very selective in my purchases, so I am actually looking forward to not having to decide every day whether or not to buy a certain game.

So, the further apart the excellent ones are, the better. Just as long as it's not too far in between.

I agree that we have become spoiled in our games, and sometimes I feel a slump in not getting a new game from BFG every day, but NOBODY has better games on their site than BFG. They are the greatest.

I agree! Gameboomers is top-notch! Such nice well informed members! And there are plenty of good games out there! In fact I have downloaded so many that I have them backed up for miles! By the way, anybody know when a new Mystery Case Files will be launched?

I predict November/December for the next MCF game; it's been about a year between each MCF game and the Dire Grove CE was released last November (not to mention the fact that it would be smart marketing to release it a few weeks before Christmas!). smile

Love Gameboomers. I agree with those in the dark scary corner scared Though I do understand when folks get ansty for the next masterpiece. I think we all still love playing games because we still have a little kid in all of us so just like kids, we get bored and want to know when are we getting a new toy.

Glad to see BFG popped in, we do have a great bunch of folks.

What's with hiding in the corner like bad little kids? Come on out and join the rest of us; I brought some Hershey's miniatures to share.

Who cares about that silly article. As long as BFG, Gameboomers and other wonderful game sites are around, we'll play as much as we want. I'd say we're all a bit wiser than the author, aren't we?

Pardon me for sounding like a therapist, but the fun is incredibly therapeutic; I feel like I'm having the childhood I never got. No parents bugging me to stop playing and do whatever. Gaming is healthy; keeps the brain cells going, alert and sharp for the goofiness of life.

Reporting from the dark corner........I have discovered the "Secret of the Dark Corner". This is a good place to wait out the time for new games......Ana has her laptop hidden under her stool and we are enjoying some older games. We have managed to get Pizza delivered to us on the sneak!!!!!!!! Delivery man uses the back door and is in disguise.

Cherie, if the dark corner works for a gaming place then more power to all who huddle there, but how can pizza get smuggled in... I mean pizza is like popcorn, no matter where it's being eaten, the aroma travels. Sooner or later, you won't be able to hide too much longer.. snicker

If they'll deliver pizza there, it's a good place. You're in trouble when they won't deliver pizza. Pizza means civilization. grin
