According to
http://www.rpgwatch.com/ Dragon Age 2 has been annnounced.
Here's the thread at rpgwatch
http://www.rpgwatch.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1061017371#post1061017371And here's the official game website:
http://dragonage.bioware.com/da2/And here's the usual press talk:
Experience the epic sequel to the 2009 Game of the Year from the critically acclaimed makers of Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2. You are one of the few who escaped the destruction of your home. Now, forced to fight for survival in an ever-changing world, you must gather the deadliest of allies, amass fame and fortune, and seal your place in history. This is the story of how the world changed forever. The legend of your Rise to Power begins now.
Key Features:
•Embark upon an all-new adventure that takes place across an entire decade and shapes itself around every decision you make.
•Determine your rise to power from a destitute refugee to the revered champion of the land.
•Think like a general and fight like a Spartan with dynamic new combat mechanics that put you right in the heart of battle whether you are a mage, rogue, or warrior.
•Go deeper into the world of Dragon Age with an entirely new cinematic experience that grabs hold of you from the beginning and never lets go.
•Discover a whole realm rendered in stunning detail with updated graphics and a new visual style.
I myself am a bit worried about the 'new combat mechanics'. I hope this does not mean thata they're abandoning real time with pause or that we can also play the game point and click on the PC?
If you have any concerns or questions about this game, here's the forum at the bioware social site:
http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/category/141/indexAccording to this thread, we'll play as new guy or girl named hawke

http://dragonage.bioware.com/ - and then news)
I, for one am a bit disappointed in this. I agree with DPB at the forums at rpgwatch. com that rpg games where you fully create
your character seems to be dead. Instead, we're left with a fixed (human?) character called Hawke...
The old dialgue tree-structure seems gone, too, the game will probably be full voiced over, even for Hawke (but that shouldn't bother us, we're used to that in adventure games...)
Oh, and for those of you near a news stand or a place that sells magazines there's a full article in the august issue of Game Informer about DA2
EDIT:
There's more info about this game:
According to rpgwatch, there's five facts we know about Hawke.Original info comes from the German Magazine, Gamestar.de
•Hawke: The male or female hero is the main character of Dragon Age II, and leads the player through the character's 10-year story.•Note: The male Hawke is most recently shown in the first screenshot in the article.
•Bethany: Hawke's sister is a mage, and supports her brother in the battle with fire spells.•Note: She's shown in the second screenshot in the article.
•Cassandra: The Inquisitor has a burning interest in the heroic deeds of Hawke.•Note: She's shown in the concept art @

•Varric: The dwarf has accompanied Hawke on his travels, and is one of the narrators in Dragon Age II.•Note: The google translation suggests that Varric is the only narrator in the game, which is wrong. He's shown in the concept art @

•Flemeth: The mighty shapeshifter and Morrigan's mother from Dragon Age: Origins is also back in Dragon Age II.•Note: The google translation is flawed, as it made it seem like Flemeth might be joinable, even though the article doesn't suggest it.
David Gaider, the Lead Writer, says this:
No exclusive organization. No saving the world. No ancient evil.

About party interaction and approval:
( Source:

Mary Kirby, one of the writers, says this in answering a question about party approval:
There's still approval. But now instead of only getting content and combat bonuses based on positive approval, you can either build a rapport or an antagonistic relationship with your companions. Negative approval means they want to show you up, or see you fall on your sorry behind, but they still stick around.
There are way fewer gifts, and the gifts are follower-specific. (No more giving dog bones to everyone to boost approval.)
And followers can still turn on you or abandon you, regardless of how much they like you, based on your actions.
(Like Leliana and Wynne at the Urn.)
And when Lord Gremlin asks this question:
Lord Gremlin wrote...
Awww, but everybody likes good bones with a handful of meat attached to them!
Actually, I think there will be a DLC which will allow you to buy infinite universal gifts. Am I wrong?
Mary Kirby, one of the writers, answers:
Probably not? Gifts trigger specific dialogues now. So you give your companion that "I'm with stupid" T-shirt and they ask you what in the Maker's name you were thinking when you bought it.
I like there's no secret organisation, and that they've changed the party approval they way they did. Cautiously optimistic, I am, about this game, now...
Oh, and here's a nice timeline for Dragon Age, courtesy of Game Informer.
http://gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2010/07/14/dragon-age-ii-timeline-of-thedas.aspxAnd here's a summary of what is in the Game Informer article:
http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/141/index/3153485Most interesting info:
Story is essentially a conversation between a male dwarf named Varric and a female Chantry Seeker. At the time, the world is on the brink of war; the Seeker believes that by understanding Hawke's actions, she can prevent the war. Varric is a reluctant narrator of Hawke's story.
Nice touch, I find.
