Finally available for downloading worldwide, for just $ 3.70, the first two episodes of the BBC game Doctor Who from Direct2Drive
UK players can still download the episodes for free from the BBC site

Episode 1 - City of the Daleks (Included Free)
The TARDIS materializes in 1963 to find the human race destroyed by the Daleks. The Doctor must travel to the home planet of his arch enemy, the Daleks, to correct time and the save the last survivor of Humanity - Amy Pond.

Episode 2 - Blood of the Cybermen
The Doctor and Amy materialise in the Arctic - where members of a geological survey team have started turning from flesh to metal after awakening something that has been dormant for thousands of years - an army of Cybermen.

* Collectibles. Scattered around the game environments are cards that build into a comprehensive collection of Dr Who characters
* Stealth and explore. Run, crawl and navigate the Doctor past enemies, traps and obstacles of various kinds.
* Puzzles. Embedded in each game are a number of puzzles which need to be solved to move the action on

Doctor Who: The Adventure Games - Episode 1 and 2 Minimum System Requirements

* Operating System: Windows XP (with Service Pack 2), Windows Vista, Windows 7
* CPU: Intel P4 2.5 GHz+ AMD Athlon XP 2500+ or higher
* Main Memory: 1Gb
* Free Hard Disk Space: 2Gb (pus additional working space)
* Sound Card: Creative Audigy series.
* Graphics Card: 100 % DirectX 9c compatible. 256Mb memory.
* A selection of supported Graphics cards:
* ATI: Radeon 9550, 9600, 9700, x300, x500, x600, x700, x800, x1300 x1600, x1800 or better
* NVIDIA : FX 5700, FX 5900, FX 5950, FX6300, FX 6600, FX 6800, FX 7800 or better
* You also require DirectX 9c (or later versions) to be installed on your PC. The game installer will install these as part of the install process.
* It is recommended that you install the latest graphics driver for your video card. The best place to find new drivers for your computer is the manufactures' support website, for example Dell, HP or Samsung.

Please note that although the site says that it's available worldwide, in fact it is only available in the North American Direct2Drive store and not the European one.

The reason people outside of the UK are being asked to pay for it is that people in the UK have already paid. Their tax money supports the BBC.

It's a fun game so far, but I'm having a little trouble assembling the C Blocker, guess I'llhave to try again later. lol

Gosh I wondered what the BBC TV licence fee us UKers pay was going towards! The games do look kind of cool though.
