The lightbulb is the one you used at the very first puzzle(s) in the game. You used it to enter through the door. smile

Good evening MaG.

Just entered the new part of Rhem.

I'm standing before the bridge. I can't look up and press the orange pad on the underside of the arch. headscratch

Need a little push. Thanks.

When you stand before entering the bridge - see the arch above you.
On the underside (right side) of the arch - you should see an orange pad. You can click on it. Keep us posted.

1. Get the code for each door. The description is in the walkthrough smile
2. Enter the code on the top panel of each door.
3. The walkthrough has the solution-code in pictures.
Enter that on each door and press the last (right) square to open that door.
luck

Please try to do this puzzle. It is one of the simplest puzzles in the game.

Open the metal doors:

Look right of the door to be opened. Note or write down the position of the black dots seen and on what concentric circles they are on.

Go back to the round structure control panel.

Arrange the black beads to be at the same positions as the black dots seen right of the to be opened metal door. Click on the white circle the beads should be positioned on and the black beads are placed there.

Look down at the base. Note down the position of the gray squares on the panel.

Go back to the metal door to be opened.

Click the squares on top of the metal door to copy the position of the gray squares seen at base of the tower control panel after entering the position of the black circles.

Note that the positions of the sets of squares are in different order from that of the control panel code.

If the gray squares are placed correctly, press the rightmost square to open the door.

Hi Maxwell,

Face the pad or the cabinet you want work on.
Look down and see the compass at bottom of screen.

I use that compass a lot.

Arrow is highlighted up - north.
Arrow is highlighted down - south.
Arrow is highlighted right - WEST.
Arrow is highlighted left - EAST. luck

oops misread your post ---- The north door is the one that has the thingies on top - 2 lights and some other thingie. The door with nothing on top and close to the ring at center of room is the south one.

I am in the gallery, page 25 WT. I have tried to open the door umpteen times (it is the door facing the buttons, right?). I have inserted the device alongside each painting and noted the sounds. Then I have pressed the buttons, for example: for painting #1 pressed the button four times, and seven times for painting #2. What am I missing and how do I reset the buttons? Thanks

It is the door at right when you are facing the buttons.

Let's review the gallery part.
1. You identify which button is for what portrait. You do this by following the wires.
2. You place the device and listen to the sounds made. The sound is then correlated to the numbers you got in room 7.
So now each portrait has a specific number.
3. Now you check for differences that happen on one of the portrait. You do this by studying the portrait and then press the button in the first room. You should then see the change in an item on that portrait.
4. Now - count the items that changed. You should then make that item change to a specific number. That number is the one you found out in step 2 above.
5. Once the the number is reached - you're done with that portrait. Go to another portrait and do all the above.
If all the portraits are correctly done - that door at end of the hall will oopen when you click on it.

If you can't - then check each portrait to see if the number of the changed item is correct. luck

You're welcome. Have fun. Take the puzzles slow and one at a time. Rest in between and enjoy.

I sort of finished Rhem, but there is a nagging question:
Click to reveal..
What's with the star key? Just a red herring like in previous Rhems? Using the key to climb down into the underground area seems to be completely optional...

Click to reveal..
The undeground part shows that:
1. The findings of Kales.
2. New area to check - if you can enter through the locked door.
Maybe I'm wrong but Kales and you still do not have the star key that opens the door where the Red Lady was. You only entered this part using Kales' key.

Martin: I am so envious. I simply cannot exit the gallery. I am so fed up looking at these paintings. Any tips to ease my tension?

Minstrum,

The solution is in the walkthrough. You can look at one graphic or chart at a time to see if your notes are correct.

Maxwell, please don't be discouraged about the doors. You'll have more to contend with later *blinkblink*. I'm starting to think Knut may have a door fetish lol

MaG: Now I have a question for you re: decoding the tower door puzzles. is each door's code made up of only one, or of more than one set of x,y combinations?

Thanks.

You must be meaning the railway central tower.

There is ONE x/y for each door-direction.

sorry MaG. Even with your additional help in PM I'm still having difficulty isolating the one x/y for each door. No graph paper available. Save game PLEASE!

Ikonius asks: I've checked with the walkthrough and I'm not really sure how to interpret your solution/grid, hence my multiple x,y question.

-----

There's no graph paper available.
I wrote Kales' paper (taken after opening the LT cabinet in his bedroom) on my own pad and then drew the door pattern over it.

You should have 2 papers: one from Kales' room and the other from the wall of the tower elevator.

Each tower door (NESW) has a pattern. You then superimpose that door pattern on the one from Kales' quarters. You then get letters. Only one EACH of the letters (ABCDE) are crossed by the pattern. So that is the A position, B position, C position... for THAT door.

You then superimpose the letters on the number chart to get the matching numbers. A = ?, B = ?...

For example - North door pattern - you saw this when you passed the cursor over the door while standing outside.

This is Kales' paper after opening the LT cabinet in his bedroom.

This is when I drew all the patterns seen on the doors on Kales' paper.
Take note of the red line - that is north door pattern.
See that it passes only once on one of the letters A B C D E.
So now you have the location of the letters for the north door.
I then noted that location by encircling that on the drawing.

I then move to the number chart taken from the elevator wall.
I located the area where those circles are.
Then I get a number associated with that letter.

So north door has a number for A, number for B.... Those are then the codes to be enter on the north door inside the tower.

-------
Check the solution at end of the walkthrough. The codes are there. I can't get the url working on interdocument links.
Enter those on the control panel of each door inside the tower (except for the west door).
For the west door you have to go down and open each side and enter the code. luck

thankyouthankyouthankyou MaG! catrub praise East-west passage now open grin

By the way , I already had both the ABCD chart (Kale's room) and the patterns. I guess I couldn't quite figure out how to properly use the ABCDE chart in the equation.

EDIT: I wonder if this is a glitch or not but , are we supposed to hear Meneandes as well as see him in the round monitor?
