I am trying to exit (escape) Dr. Gygax's office by way of the dum-waiter. Pull the left short rope 3 times and the right longer rope once to enter dum-waiter. But it is not happening. I get the message 'Now it cant be used for anything'. I did the quiz on the hermit, heard him hum, nurses yelling and now I'm trying to escape. Help!

Be sure that you have read the note on the table by the left wall of the kitchen after you did a fire-smoke trick. Read the note to learn the bell signal for the tray - 3 short then a long will send the lift back to the doctor's office.

When you need to use it and if you have done -examined everything in Gygax' office - then you can use the bell pull.

Pull the left short bell pull 3 times, pull the right long bell pull once.

Check all the items on the desk and in the file cabinet. If that down't work - check the secret lab.
