I just completed installing 3.1.1 and didn't encounter any issues - you may want to download the setup again. And.. I completely forgot about version 3 - apparently it automatically downloads the VMware Tools package, so there's no need to find it elsewhere. Here's a pic of Direct3D Running (with Acceleration). VMware 3.1.1 - DXDiag Direct3D Test

ok I'll get rid of this one and download it again.
Edit: No good. Even with admin privileges and saving it to the Users folder per emailed suggestion, it still generates the very same error message. Could it be the problem is linked to the download manager somehow?

It could be - I downloaded the file without using it.
This is the size on my hard drive - 104 MB (109,166,592 bytes) as: VMWare-player-3.1.1-282343.exe
edit -
Apparently this is a problem for some - I'll see if I can locate a resolution. If you Google "VMware Player+script error" you'll find several hits.

We have the exact same VMWare.
Tell you what. I am currently playing Darkness Within 2. Once I've finished it, I will try installing both traitor's Gate games on my XP Pro VM to see if they'll work. If not , I'll try installing VMWare on XP first. Sound logical to you?
EDIT: I've installed the first TG on XP Pro and had to reduce the audio acceleration to minimum and it still skip once in a while. But it's bearable. At least the dialogue is clear. I am getting some pixilation in the opening briefing, but the rest seems smooth to date. Is it possible our agent is coming out of the closet in the figurative sense as well? hehe

Did some looking around - is this your error? Install VMware player on win7 If so, you can see there was no resolution in the thread. However one item that wasn't mentioned was updating the JVM. Point your browser to the URL below and get the latest version for your OS - Java Downloads for All Operating Systems After it installs, clear your browser cache and delete your temp files. Try the install again.
