Here you can take a look at the teaser from the game. Amnesia Video A first look at the game make me feel it's even better and buuuuuuuu(ghostly) than the Penumbra games. Cheers

Hmm. I couldn't pull it up. There are a bunch of videos but not that one.

After reading the previews and also on earlier threads on this game already in the DarkSide, I am moving this to that forum. Ana

Make sure you use the Windows link on the left unless you're using Linux, as that's what I just didn't and couldn't open the file. Duh!

Demo of survival horror “Amnesia: The Dark Descent” released! Helsingborg, Sweden, 03/9 – 2010 Today Frictional Games, the makers of the Penumbra series, has released a demo for their upcoming first person survival horror “Amnesia: The Dark Descent”. Players with Windows, Macor Linux all get a chance to experience a small slice of the dread and terror contained in the full game. The game begins with Daniel awakening in a desolate Prussian castle, without any memories to explain his situation. A letter written by himself, reveals that the amnesia is actually self-inflicted. The mysterious message urges him to seek out and kill Alexander, a man residing deep below the castle. Hunted by a dark shadow, Daniel can see no other way out than to trust his former self. If he is to save his life and mind, he needs to find out what it is all really about. It is his only hope for salvation. A dark descent awaits. Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a first person horror game with focus on immersion. It is a game where atmosphere and story comes first. Amnesia will be released on the 8th of September and can be purchased in Frictional Game's own online store as well as most major online retailers. We would also like to seize the opportunity and inform all that there is a 10% discount on Amnesia if you pre-order. For those who are longing for some horror gaming this weekend, the Penumbra series costs 70% less in our own store (store.frictionalgames.com) and at GamersGate!! About Demo The demo can be downloaded from www.AmnesiaGame.com where it is available as both a direct download and as a torrent. Platforms: Windows, Mac OS X & Linux. Languages: English - with localized text for French, German, Italian & Spanish. Recommended Computer Specifications: Windows XP/Vista/7, OS X 10.5.8/10.6.4 or Linux distribution released in 2010. NVIDIA GeForce 6 / ATI Radeon HD. 2.0 Ghz CPU. 1 - 2 GB RAM (depends on OS). 500mb of free disk space.

That's great news Ana I'm goin in for that download. The demo was creepy and I thought it seems easier than the other Penumbra demo's, of course I know the controls from having played the first two games. Looking forward to playing the full version when its comes out next week. Marie

Looks interesting: it had some actiony moments . Dark atmosphere stuff, which is not a bad thing. Steam has it as a pre-order for 14.99. Dunn

I am playing the Demo, I seem to have the same problems as in Penumbra with the controls, for example - I cannot stand a chair that is lying on the floor, there is a video "Amnesia: The Dark Descent - Getting Cosy" where a chair is not only made to stand but rotated in the air. How is this done? No matter in which direction I move the mouse I can only get up and down or side to side movements.

Thanks Marie, I didn't use this rotation in Penumbra either. I was curios after watching the video and thought it may be needed in Amnesia.
I played the video and the controls seem better than in Penumbra though.

MCC. What you do is hold down the R key, (default) along with the left mouse button, and move your mouse around. I couldn't figure this out at first either.
Just move the mouse in a circular motion while holding down the R key and the left mouse button and you'll be all set.
As to the game. This is some scary stuff and I'm going to download from Steam tomorrow. I like the idea that you get no weapons in the game at all, and have to rely on your wits to progress.

Thank you olgeezer, I never knew about the R key and didn't see it in the keyboard controls description, I don't like download only but I guess I have not other choice. I have Steam and have downloaded some DLC for Mass Effect 2, I had no problems but I like the box, not that it makes that much sense, particularly when I have the boxes stacked in the basement .

mcc, Hopefully you get it tomorrow. The game is great so far, just love exploring and old castles. By the way once I installed the game I noticed that there's is a manual that you can read before you actually start the game that should answer any questions about game play. Marie

revco, there is already a WT but in video, in Youtube. I haven't seen any written.
The beginning is quite straightforward but I haven't played for very long.
The controls and the action seem to be a lot easier to handle, up to now, than in Penumbra.
