Am on hill not far from a ladder, which I have to get on to open the Floodgate, have tried several ways including jumping to it, but I'm always killed - what do I do please! A savegame would be ideal, but don't know if it's possible!

Draclvr, Hope you have an enjoyable trip! I have a walkthrough, but not the one you mention - thanks! As to the saves, I would, please, like these when you can get round to sending them, if possible and how to insert them in the game.

Just as a warning, this game gets harder and harder as you progress, I still haven't finished it due to hard drive issues, but I still have all my saves. One day when I get brave again, I am so close to the end!!!

corana, I'm back and loaded up the game. If you haven't gotten past this point, you need to jump down and defeat a bunch of hopping enemies and go across the bottom part, grab a rope and go up to where the ladders are. When you pull the lever to raise the water, you have much more fun waiting for you! I have saves if you get desperate, but like Hawka says, it gets harder the further you go in the game, so if you can get through this part, you will do much better later on.

Hawka, I got through the whirlpool the first try! I think it took me 3 days the first time I played.

After a while the whirlpool became easy for me too, compared to those critters later on, gad I died so many times. So Corana play as much as you can yourself, just keep trying and save save save.

Thanks, I've got through to the Trolls. One question, I have a Windows Vista, how do I get to the saves on it?

Thanks

I have Vista, but the Hobbit isn't on there, this is a link to my Photobucket showing the path for Morrowind. Looking is easier than explaining. The path is your username, the software company, in this case Bethesda, then game name, then data. This screenshot was before I had a save made, you should have a folder marked "saves", you would drag the save into that folder. Vista saves path I hope this helps, someone here on GB told me this is where to look, I think it was Hagatha.

corana, do a search for Hobbit on your Vista computer. It will tell you were the folder is and the saves will be in the Data file there.

I can install it and see where it goes, gotta find it first though.

OK Corana, it installs to (x86)Programs Files but the saves go to Documents, I played til I could save it in the beginning, here is a link to my Photobucket screen shot. Any saves you are given or saved yourself should be in here.

Hi there,

I think I also had to set my View to "Show all File Extensions", or Show Hidden File Extensions," or whatever the exact wording is. Vista is particularly nasty about hiding stuff the average gamers wants to see.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

You'll have to give us a bit more, corana. What do you mean by "wallet?"

I am pretty sure it is by the last troll and you either have to sneak or grab it and run, not that easy to get. Here is a link to some Hobbit stuff that went on to a new topic when we exceeded the page limit. Maybe this will help you, I don't have time to read it now but it was in "My Posts".

Hope the posts Hawk mentioned helped.

I have many saved games on my Windows 7 drive. But, as Hawka and I mentioned, it's best to try to get through the sticky parts as the game gets harder later on. But if you give up (I'm thinking of a battle with some of the evil minions that took me three days the first time I played!), I can always send you a save. Check on what Hawka said in her posts about where the Vista saves are or do as I suggested in a post above and do a search for Hobbit on your computer.

They are not that hard to find on Vista, just follow the path in the link I posted earlier in this thread. If your files are hidden, then click to unhide them, but in this case that would only pertain to the Program FIles. The saves should be right in Documents and search will point this out. For each save there are two entries, one the save, the other the image of where it is. You will not be able to open the saves, they will have a Windows Icon that says it cannot open it. But if you transfer a save into the same place, it will appear in your saves. I believe if you right click on the save it will give you the date it was made. I have saves also but they are way beyond the place where you are now. Anything thing to mention is the way saves are numbered, it is possible you might have to rename them if you already have a save with the same number. I would have to take a second look. I still have my saves on my XP computer, I just installed Hobbit and tested it to the first save on my Vista one.

This game does have some very difficult places, it will get harder and harder and I think all of us that played it were stuck everywhere at some point. I got eaten by those Trolls many many times.

Edit here: This is from the topic I linked you to above, page 3 says this When you finally get past the first two trolls, then you have to sneak past the yawning one (easy) then do a combo of sneak, crouch down and wait, then run for the next CP, after you get the last blue one, then run for the pink and green and grab the bag. If you try to sneak for the bag, Tom will grab you.

Thanks for all the help, but as I' a 77 year old bloke, my reactions aren't as fast as they used to be and I'm still trying to get the wallet/bag, etc. Hope I will eventually succeed!

It's not easy, but hopefully you will finally get past the trolls. Do you have a specific part which is giving you problems? I've played this game so many times I think I can remember a few tricks for you!
