I have reached the age of Gahreesen and am at the end of the walkway, on top of the rotating building, getting ready to jump to the large rock with the journey cloth on it. I have tried to jump many, many times. I have tried to be back further, I keep the caps lock on so I can run and get a good jump but even if I seem to land on the rock, I fall. I am really getting discouraged. Is there a special way to do this, what am I doing wrong? Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks.
Sue T.

Hi Sue.

The problem here seems to be that the top of the rock often doesn't detect you so you fall through. The solution that I found (it works all the time) is to run off the end of the platform (without jumping) so that I hit the side of the rock and slide down to the ledge. You can then go up to the top of the rock.

Hope this helps. Dave

Sue this can be a very difficult jump. Here is what I did to make the jump.

When you jump don't wait until you are exactly in front of the top of the rock. Do a running jump just before the lower walkway gets in front of you. You will be jumping and landing below the top of the rock and to the right side.

It is important not to wait for the top of the rock to be in front of you. Remember you will be jumping down to the walkway just below the top of the rock on the right side.

When I jumped I stood to the right side of the opening so I could see the rock coming and started my jump before the top was in front.
Good Luck and when you land be sure to save your game so you don't have to do it again!

I am going to try both suggestions and I am determined to make one or both of them work! I think I have several more jumps to make before I can leave this age so I had better get good at it. Thanks Dave and Gerry, I will keep you posted as to how it goes. And thanks Rushes, for wishing me luck, I am going to need it!

Sorry it took me so long to get back, we had trouble with our internet. However, I did make the first jump successfully using your suggestion Gerry, only I jumped from the left, still landed in the same place. Jumping to the platform was no problem at all. When I returned, I used your suggestion Dave, and I was successful almost immediately. My jumps to the smaller rock and the Journey Door were a little tricky, but didn't cause too much trouble. So I am still going along with no problems so far. Thanks again to both of you and to you Rushes for your support. If I get into trouble again I will be back. Thanks! Sue T.

I played URU recently (next month). It's a known bug in URU which I encountered too. It took me a lot of jumps to go through and it was realllllyyy a very annoying bug, least to say. A bug for which a fix is not obvious.
But as Kaki said, the game is worth the determination to go through that path (except for the #!%? last puzzle of Eder Gira/Kemo Age).

Here I am back again with another problem to solve. I am in the Kadish Tolesa Age and I have completed setting the telescope devices and opening the door into the lighted floor puzzle. I pressed the blue buttons on the balcony, (2,3 & 5) but I cannot get the staircase to drop down. I fear that I may have pressed # 2 button twice, I was distracted by something and could not remember so I pressed it, probably twice. My question is: can I reset this puzzle somehow? there is no saved game to go back to. I have walked every path, used every suggestion in the walkthrough with no luck. If I could just start over I think I could get it. I would appreciate any suggestions as to how to reset it. Thanks, Sue T.

Sue,

Let's wait for the Uru experts to help you here. I flagged one of them.

Sue, when you press the buttons, can you see the light turn on or off? If you can, then press each button until you see the light turn off. Then press the correct ones to turn the right lights on.

Hope this helps. Dave

P.S. The dark path is tricky, ANY contact with the light will cause the floor to not drop. Some people find that doing this in 3rd person view works better than 1st person view.

First of all, thanks to MaG, I appreciate your help in finding someone who can help with this problem. Dave, I thank you for your suggestion and it makes perfect sense. I am sure I did make the mistake of pressing one of the buttons twice which created an incorrect floor. I will put your suggestions to work tomorrow. I will let you both know how it turns out, but Dave, in the past you have given me suggestions about jumping and that turned out very well indeed. Thanks you to you both, I appreciate your help very much. Sue T.

I have solved the floor puzzle by using your suggestion Dave, worked like a charm. Thanks so much. And Gerry, it was so much easier than jumping. I am just about done with this game and will be starting the Expansion pack to D'ni, then I will play Path of the Shell. Thanks again to all of you, MaG, Dave and Gerry and to Rushes for the good luck wishes. I am going to need it. I may be back sooner than I know. Thanks again, Sue T.

You're welcome Sue. One of the things that I like about all the Myst games is that you very seldom get into a place that you can't get out of except by re-loading a save (also called a dead end).

Have fun with the rest of the game. Dave

Hi Jeannette, I found this explanation on one of GB's URU walkthroughs:

Unfortunately, there is no way for a user to save the game when he wants to. The game automatically saves any change you make to the Ages, and the Journey Cloths save your position within an Age, enabling you to return to it by linking from Relto. By default the game always loads to Relto Age.
