I've never played an FMV before and wondering if I would enjoy this game. I like the idea of a Sci-fi noir setting as well. Is it like a regular AG as far as puzzles and what not, or completely different gameplay. Oh, and hows the story, as that is the most important thing to me.

Thanks.

Ooops! Just realized I put this in the wrong place. If one of the admins could put it in the proper category, I would appreciate it.

olgeezer,
This is not a good game. It is a GREAT game and for $5 it is a steal. I really enjoyed FMV.
In fact I think my favorite game of all time was FMV. The Beast Within Gabriel Knight 2. luck

It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

Ditto what Space Quest Fan said.
Pandora Directive was my very first adventure game. Great game, Tex Murphy is a wonderful character.

Hi Olgeezer Great game - great series. Under a Killing Moon was my favorite in the series.

Well I'm downloading now. Normally I wouldn't ask for a game that's only $5.00. But I lost my full time job recently and only working part time so become very selective in what I buy lately.

Appreciate the the prompt replys.

Make sure you download the manual with the game.
It is not a true point and click game. You need to use the keyboard also. Have fun. This is an excellent game.

It won't disappoint, each game is a classic unto itself –

You can also control movement with a mouse by pressing (and holding) the right mouse button and maneuvering in any direction. It takes some getting used to, but eventually you’ll get the hang of it.

And here I thought Sanitarium was the only game where you controlled the character that way.

I think I remember in one of the Tex games that you can actually tilt. I had to use the tilt to look inside a drawer at one point in the game. Have fun. smile

The last 3 games basically used the same engine and included tilt as well as up and down. In one of them, I forget which one, you actually had to crouch to avoid being seen.

Been playing for about an hour now. What an odd game! Has a lot of appeal though, and I'm actually enjoying it quite a bit. It's a bit tough for me to get used to moving around but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.

I've just started and already laughed out loud at some of the remarks Tex makes, and there seems to be quite a large cast of characters as well with some really wacky personalities. Great stuff!

There is a tilt option while playing, however does anyone know if there is a key to bring it back to the default angle?

olgeezer,
As far as bringing the default angle back I am not sure. Did you download the manual? I just remember in one of the games that I opened a drawer to search it and it looked like there was nothing in the drawer until you used the tilt feature and then you could see something in the back of the drawer.
I also remember that it is a good idea to save your game from time to time too. Have fun!

Yes I did download the manual. However I can't find anything there to bring the view back to default. Not a big deal. Another one of those things I'll have to get used to.

As to the game, yes the graphics are fuzzy and not very sharp, but I think that's part of the charm of the game. I almost feel like I'm playing some sort of antique game. Even though the game is only 15 years old it feels like it's older. It reminds me of when I first played games like Thief and SS2.

It must have been tough making the game as there is a lot of dialog. I expected horrible acting but to me at least so far it's pretty good. I've even recognized a few of the actors from old movies which is pretty cool as well.

Thanks inland. I didn't see that in the manual that came with the game, but sometimes I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

You might want to check the in-game keyboard settings. I still have the game installed on my laptop (under Virtual PC) and for some reason mine was set to use the "R" key (which is also used for run).

If yours is the same, just highlight the setting and enter "E" to change it.

The setting only affects the height setting, tilt remains the same.

Hey Olgeezer - Glad you are liking TEX. Just a word on movement, be sure to read the manual - if you downloaded it - Tex may have to bend or squat too at times.

Enjoy.

I just found the in-game tutorial with the voice that walks you through the movement etc, and found out that the tab key will bring you back to normal height after using the tilt keys. Also thanks Sureshot, as I didn't realize that you could crouch as well. The game has a lot more options that I originally thought, which surprised me in a good way being such an old game.

I am loving this, however I think I've found a bug or glitch. I just assembled a jigsaw puzzle that Emily gave me and there is a piece missing, so the game isn't giving me the points for completing the puzzle, which isn't a big deal but I'm finding as I play more I actually want all the points I can get haha. Either that or I'm being my usual idiot self. Anyone else run into this problem?

Other than that, this is one of the most enjoyable AG's I've ever played because it's so unique. And the humour is right up my alley. I find myself laughing out loud at some of the stuff, which for me rarely happens.

Hi Olgeezer

I remember that puzzle - it was early on in the game but I don't remember having any pieces missing - Emily's note should all be there to assemble. I played it on an Windows XP gaming machine I built - I found no glitches or bugs in the game. Take a good look - the graphics are not those killer ones we see today so there may be a piece hidden under another one.

It's a great game - you'll see some very well known stars playing roles in it - keep an eye out for them - lots of fun.

Another treat about this game is that there are different paths you can choose and about 6 or 7 different endings. smile

Thank you! That's what is was. I had a piece hidden under another.

One other question. I have onboard sound in my comp, and the game defaults to 16 bit Soundblaster, however there doesn't appear to be stereo sound coming out while playing the game through my headphones. The weird part is that when I do the audio "test" the stereo sounds great.
