I'm in chapter 4. Set the time still (I think) and am now supposed to leave the astrolab to find the world in pieces. But there the game keeps crashing. Would someone have a save right after leaving the lab?

Also, I was trying to find where the saves are stored and started at users/documents (win Vista) but it said I didn't have the right permissions. So I restarted as administrator, and now I can see the folders, but still no saves. When I now start Whispered World the game doesn't have saves anymore...

thanks

OK. But I still would like a save is anyone has it. smile
BTW I don't think it's a glitch. Just me not knowing how it works with different users in windows.

Is there a savegames folder inside your "The Whispered World" folder? Are there any files inside that?

No. I assume it's somewhere in users/...
I played the game when I had started winVista with a username. Because the userfolders where inaccessible I then started windows as administrator. The game now doesn't see any saves.
It's not a big problem, but I'm hoping someone can send me a save after the crash, but I don't know where it goes or how to access it.

I sent you 3 saved games - hopefully one of them works for you.

Just for info the saved games folder in XP is found in the C drive - folder labeled TWW.

Thanks, I received the saves. Only I don't have C:\TWW, but this is vista.
Any Idea where to look (a search for TWW on C: came up empty)?

It seems I have a problem here. I'm playing this on my wife's laptop, my own's too old, and she set up her own user/pwd (wich I used).
I think the saves are somewhere in documents and settings but that folder is inaccesible.
So now I started winVista as administrator, thinking I could view documents and settings that way. But now I still don't have the rights to access it. smashpc
How can I change the security settings so every user can view and edit the documents and settings (and subfolders)?

My saves are located in the folder the game was installed to (in my case My Documents\The Whispered World) - yours may be different.

Do you see a sub directory named savegames there?

I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying that you logged on using her credentials and can't view her documents folder, or is it located under another userid?

I installed and played the game when windows was started with a my wife's username. There was no savegames folder. I'm sure they went somewhere in Documents and settings, but even logged in with her user it says access is not allowed.

So then I started windows as administrator and started the game. There were no saves, but NOW there is a savegame folder, without saves. Again, viewing the documents and settings folder is not allowed.
I placed Mag's saves there and that works now, but I still cant find the saves I made when playing under my wife's username.

I think my main question is now: how can I make the documents and settings folder available to everyone?

While logged on under her credentials that's definitely not normal. She should have full access to all folders under her logon Id.

Try looking at the folder properties with Windows Explorer (Start, All Programs, Accessories - Windows Explorer). Peruse to the C: Drive and expand the tree view to her UserID. Right click the folder, select Properties and press the security Tab. View each group (top half of the form) and then review the permissions (bottom half). This is also where you would grant access to any other user of the PC.

So long as nothing is set to Deny, there is no reason for the error message.

It doesn't expand to her userid, but there is a folder documents and settings.
The security tab has a column allow and a column deny and neither has a checkmark anywhere (well, allow AND deny on special privileges).

Advanced gives deny for everyone (read) and allow for everyone (special).
When I try to change it, it says it should be done by the owner, but I'm logged in as the owner!

Is there a way to see wich user the system thinks I am now?

You should see your Logon Id at the top of the Start Menu (just below the User Image). That's also the link that should open your User folders.
